The Santa Cruz Mountains, part of the Pacific Coast Range in central California, form a ridge along the San Francisco Peninsula, south of San Francisco, and separate the Pacific Ocean from San Francisco Bay. They continue south bordering Monterey Bay and end up at the Salinas Valley.
A major route across the mountains is SR92 which runs from Half Moon Bay to San Mateo. This photo was shot near the point where SR92 crosses and separates the 'Upper' and 'Lower' Crystal Springs Reservoir in San Mateo. Heavy summer fogs frequently cover the western ocean-facing slopes and valleys and often creep over the top of these mountains as can be seen in this photograph.

"La Mancha, arid but largely fertile elevated plateau formed over limestone in central Spain, extending south from Toledo. La Mancha is described by Miguel de Cervantes in his 17th-century novel Don Quixote, and visitors to the region today still can encounter the 16th-century windmills at which Cervantes’s fictional would-be knight-errant “tilted,” believing them to be gigantic rivals."
Porto da Cruz on Madeira's north coast, as seen shortly before nightfall from the swimming pool near the sea. I quite liked this small town, even tough we only stayed there for about an hour. Watching the waves come in and just strolling around in this quiet place was really relaxing.
Yesterday marked a rapid swing from below zero to plus 7 degrees. The rapid melting of ice and snow blanketed the whole of Copenhagen in a variably thick fog, especially around the harbor area where I work.
Morning Fog, Molenkade, Kinderdijk, Netherlands
Kinderdijk is situated in a polder at the confluence of the Lek and Noord rivers. To drain the polder, a system of 19 windmills was built around 1740. This group of mills is the largest concentration of old windmills in the Netherlands.

The Epping Ongar Railway is a heritage railway run by a team of volunteers in South-West Essex. It was the final section of the Great Eastern Railway and London Underground Central Line branch line between Loughton via Epping to Ongar, with intermediate stations at North Weald and Blake Hall. The line was closed by London Underground in 1994 but reopened in 2004 as a preserved railway offering a volunteer run Class 117 DMU service between Ongar and Coopersale. This heritage service ceased in 2007 when a change of ownership lead to the line being closed for large scale restoration to a heritage steam railway which opened on 25th May 2012.
