There have been some dreamy, foggy dusks, lately.
Fog
The fog comes
on little cat feet.
It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.
-Carl Sandburg
The fog rubs its gray, emaciated skin
against the window in an endless
continuum, a film of empty frames,
a dream devoid of images, passing through
some alien consciousness, a blur
of slow moving amorphous vapor
dissolving the outside world.
By mid-morning, the first beams
of sunlight fall through cracks of clouds,
and the feeling of suffocation begins to loosen.
The fog thins out to ghostly ribbons
and the world I knew yesterday
shows through, firm and familiar again.

Fog forms along the Salamonie on these cool mornings.
The labyrinth made of rocks is in the foreground.
From our balcony at Amicalola Falls State Park Lodge, it is magical to watch the thick sea of cool fog lift, and the first rays of morning sun paint the landscape with light and autumn color. Not far from here is the beginning of the approach to the Appalachian Trail.
My first fog bow or white rainbow! Formed exactly like a rainbow except that the droplet of fog are too small to refract light as brightly as a rainbow. Way cool!

The fog was creeping across the ground and through this park the other morning. I took several shots, just trying out some different exposures and stuff, so sorry for the multiple shots. I had a good spot, looking out over the park on this ridge. It was a beautiful morning.
An hour later, the whole scene was covered completely with FOG.
I couldn't believe these surfers were going out into pretty well complete fog in the ocean. That's dedication!
2 Hour late start for schools this morning afforded me a little time to take the camera and find some fog photo ops. This is looking east toward the morning sun. You'll note the layer of fog has lifted just a bit.

The remnants of thick fog from earlier in the morning were blowing onto the shore, making this a very pretty spot to relax for a while before the 5 hour drive back to Boston.
"Also, as I lay there thinking of my vision, I could see it all again and feel the meaning with a part of me like a strange power glowing in my body; but when the part of me that talks would try to make words for the meaning, it would be like fog and get away from me."
~Black Elk
Happy Monday my friends! Such a beautiful and cool morning on the Wetlands! The fog and the bright morning light illuminated hundreds of dewy spider webs. The quote is a perfect as the Wetlands lie on Native American sacred ground.
