A small but colourful dead wasp, given to me by a friend. It's been suggested this might be Sapyga quinquepunctata but I'm not sure.

A first experiment with focus-stacking. A stack of 8 near-macro images shot with the Z 70-200 f/2.8 lens and the Canon 500D 2x close-up diopter filter, stacked and blended in Photoshop. I can see some small imperfections, but overall, I'm pretty pleased with the result.

I shot 16 images, each focused at a slightly different point, and then focus stacked these within Photoshop.

Had 2 pictures of the same jumping spider on each side of the same bean, so I tried to merge the shots using combinez5- not quite the result I expected.

A beautiful Epidendrum species from Ecuador, I love the fringed (fimbriate) lip! Flowers are about 1.5 inches or 4 cm from tip of dorsal sepal to lip. Photographed in personal collection.

This is an image made of five macro shots of the crab, focus stacked together in Photoshop to produce a single image with all the areas in focus.

The focus stacking system is controlled by an mbed LPC1768. It controls power to the Lego motor, and the shutter of the camera.
