"Fuchsia Cluster #2" by Patti Deters. Four hanging flowers and buds make for a pretty piece of art. The pinkish red and lavender purple blooms are big, soft, and very attractive in hanging baskets. 2021-147 Very Tiny Text - I didn't realize the shadows cast by some of the text on the twenty dollar bill were actually made up of more text.
Sandblasted and painted Testtubes.
Light setup:
1 Flash with 6cm Honeycomb from the right flashing into the tubes.
1 Flash with 20cm Softbox at front.
PP: Focus-Stacked from 20 exposures
14 images auto-aligned and auto-blended in Photoshop. According to PhotoPills calculator the DOF was 0.29 inches. Looks like I may have missed a couple of edges. Next attempt I'll shoot at f/11 which will have a DOF of 1.16 inches. A little more manageable.

Focus stacking via photomerge in CS5. I used re-focusing rather focus plane micro movement. There are 7 photos in the stack. Finer focusing and using higher aperture would have been better. I used f5.6. Plus, I used the 24-105mm which is not a macro lens. See the next two photos for example of the original focus plane.

Close view of a Creeping Charlie (Glechoma hederacea) flower. 76 images shot with Canon 50D and MP-E 65mm at 3.75x using 0.08 mm steps with a Cognisys StackShot and stacked in Zerene Stacker. Lit with MT-24EX @ 1/32 with diffusion gels.
Only my third attempt at focus stacking, this one took 14 images to make. It shows aphids on a plant that is producing a bud that is about to flower. Aphids are very interesting biologically because of their many symbioses, but also because some species have been doing the GMO thing for a few million years, having achieved the ability to synthesize carotenoids by lateral gene transfer from a fungus. They also engage in cloning, producing eggs by parthenogenesis. They are able to survive on plant sap because of an obligate endosymbiosis with a specialised bacterium. All in all, rather cool critters.
