We have a tunnel at work joining two buildings. I thought having an elephant flying inside it could be fun. The elephant is "made" using the AI Art app, just by asking for a "flying elephant" and trying until you like the result :-) So this photo is composed using the tunnel and the artificially manipulated elephant. Hope you like it... Sometimes you need to believe elephants can fly :-)

I don't know if my shot of this brings anything new to the table as I know I've seen at least a few similar shots but who can resist a fun long exposure of the new Dumbos? I did my shot at a tilt as I felt like it added a bit more excitement to the shot.

Technical: 4 shots blended in Photomatix. 3 adjustment layers.

The ever popular (and never ending queue) Dumbo ride in the Magic Kingdom's Fantasyland. Every time that I pass this, I'm thankful that our kids are older.

Dumbo at the Magic Kingom in Fantasyland

Dumbo asks that you please View On Black. Thanks!

Dumbo was produced by Walt Disney and released on October 23, 1941, by RKO Radio Pictures. The movie was made to recoup the financial losses of Fantasia. It was a deliberate pursuit of simplicity and economy for the Disney studio, and is now generally regarded as a classic of animation. At 64 minutes, it is one of Disney's shortest animated features and also considered to be one of studios finest films

Dumbo is a 1941 American animated fantasy film produced by Walt Disney Productions and released by RKO Radio Pictures. The film is based upon the storyline written by Helen Aberson and Harold Pearl, and illustrated by Helen Durney for the prototype of a novelty toy ("Roll-a-Book").

The main character is Jumbo Jr. (seen in the photograph above), an elephant who is cruelly nicknamed "Dumbo", as in "dumb". He is ridiculed for his oversized ears, but in fact he is capable of flying by using his ears as wings. Throughout most of the film, his only true friend, aside from his mother, is a mouse named Timothy Q. Mouse – a relationship parodying the stereotypical animosity between mice and elephants.

Produced to recoup the financial losses of both Pinocchio and Fantasia, Dumbo was a deliberate pursuit of simplicity and economy for the Disney studios. At 64 minutes, it is one of the studio's shortest animated features. Sound was recorded conventionally using the RCA System. One voice was synthesized using the Sonovox system, but it too was recorded using the RCA System.

Dumbo was released on October 23, 1941, where it was met with critical acclaim for its story, humor, visuals, and music. Its accolades include an Academy Award for Best Scoring of a Musical Picture.

In 2017, Dumbo was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically and aesthetically significant".

In the years following its initial release, Dumbo remains popular ever since. Its derivative works include a popular theme park attraction (where the photograph above was taken at Disney's Magic Kingdom in Florida), merchandise products, a television series, and a live-action adaptation.

Three bracketed photos were taken with a handheld Nikon D7200 and combined with Photomatix Pro to create this HDR image. Additional adjustments were made in Photoshop CS6.

I don't do well on spinning rides but I'd like to try getting on this to get some shots of Dumbo in flight. It's on my shot list for my next visit to the Disney Parks.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Dutch postcard. Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy and Edna Marion in Flying Elephants (Frank Butler, 1928). Collection: Geoffrey Donaldson Institute.

Thin Englishman Stan Laurel (1890–1965) and heavyset American Oliver Hardy (1892–1957) were a comedy double act during the early Classical Hollywood era. They became well known during the late 1920s through the mid-1940s for their slapstick comedy, with Laurel playing the clumsy and childlike friend of the pompous Hardy.

Before their being teamed up, both actors had well-established film careers. Stan Laurel had appeared in over 50 films, while Oliver Hardy had been in more than 250 productions. The two comedians had previously worked together as cast members on the film The Lucky Dog in 1921. However, they were not a comedy team then, and it was not until 1926 when both separately signed contracts with the Hal Roach film studio that they appeared in a movie short together. Laurel and Hardy officially became a team in 1927 when they appeared together in the silent short film Putting Pants on Philip. Laurel and Hardy remained with the Roach studio until 1940 and then appeared in eight B movie comedies for 20th Century Fox and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer from 1941 to 1945.

After finishing their movie commitments at the end of 1944, Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy concentrated on performing in stage shows. They embarked on a music hall tour of England, Ireland and Scotland. In 1950, before retiring from the screen, they made their last film, which was a French/Italian co-production called Atoll K. As a team, they appeared in 107 films, with the pair starring in 32 short silent films, 40 short sound films and 23 full-length feature films. They also made 12 guest or cameo appearances, including the Galaxy of Stars promotional film of 1936. In 1954, the pair made one American television appearance when they were surprised and interviewed by Ralph Edwards on his live NBC-TV program This Is Your Life. Since the 1930s, the works of Laurel and Hardy have been released in numerous theatrical reissues, television revivals, 8-mm and 16-mm home movies, feature-film compilations and home videos.

Really gonna miss seeing these when I move.

People all over town seemed to have named me after that sweet, innocent, lovable disney charachter, Dumbo. Just the other morning as I was driving down the sidewalk, Polka music blaring from my car stereo system, there must of been 20 people yelling Hey Dumbo! at me. Then it hit me. I saw there fists pumping in the air. It's the POLKA music! They LOVE the Polka Music. So, I turned the music up, continued down the sidewalk, "Parade Waved" my hand out the window, smiled and yelled I Love you too, Man.

Just a regular "filler" shot as we'll call it since I'm not currently at Disney shooting! I was going through a bunch of old photo's from last May's trip to the World and came across this little guy. I thought it was kind of cool and caught my eye, so I gave it a little editing and this is what came of it!

Todays #Disney Pic from the Park - Dumbo - I could sit and watch Dumbo at night for hours - watching the lights and colors as Dumbo soars high in the sky. A must do on our list!!

Shutter Speed : 13 Seconds

Dumbo the Flying Elephant is a carousel ride that 'flys' up and down on your command of the on-board joystick. It is located in the Storybook Circus area of Fantasyland. The colors of the attraction are striking, and the blues, reds and golds fit in perfectly with the circus theme. Dumbo is also one of the original attractions dating back to the Magic Kingdoms opening in 1971.
