Hi everyone, we will be off to Sri Lanka (our motherland) on holiday from 10 Aug to 18 Sep 16.

During this period I won't be able to comment on your work, but will check your work from time to time.

what a lucky moment ... I heard a cuckoo, swirled around and was lucky to get a nice shot of him

was für ein Glücksmoment ... Ich hörte einen Kuckuck, wirbelte herum und hatte das Glück, ihn noch im Flug zu erwischen

Mostly mallards (Anas platyrhynchos), a few northern shovelers (Spatula clypeata) and two blue-winged teals (Spatula discors), all of the Anatidae family, flying overhead.

The Petrie Island Park area is classified as Significant Wetlands by the province of Ontario, which defines it as an Area of Natural and Scientific Interest. One of the last relatively natural environments on the Ontario side of the Ottawa River below the nation’s capital, the archipelago features a Carolinian deciduous swamp forest, possibly the only one in Eastern Canada north of Toronto. Seasonal flooding, extensive sand deposits, abundant water plants and thin but fertile soils have helped maintain a variety of life not found in many other places and its habitats are extremely rich. There are several species of turtles, some rare, and well over 130 species of birds have been identified at Petrie. There are also provincially rare plants, including stands of hackberry trees. There is a network of trails through a nature preserve, and a small interpretive center, both maintained by volunteers. (Wikipedia)

This image is from the series I am doing on Bird Island. Bird Island is an amazing place where thousands of fish eating birds raise their young during the summer months. I like to go out early in the morning or at dusk in my small rowboat and enjoy the show and record what I can.

I'll be out there next summer again!

Sand martins are colony breeders breeding at the cliff coast and they are swarming through the air. Still, capturing these very fast birds is quite difficult. For me, it worked for the first time.

Uferschwalben sind Koloniebrüter und brüten an der Steilküste. Sie schwärmen durch die Luft, aber diese sehr schnellen Vögel zu fotografieren ist ziemlich schwierig. Für mich das erste Mal.
