I made this shot for a bit of fun after doing some still life light painting for college. The model is a Sunstar die cast replica of the famous Back to the Future Delorean. I used my phone led flash to create the light trails and then Photoshop to add motion blur to the wheels and foreground.

My wife really surprised me this year for Christmas with a set of Lego's that makes the DeLorean from Back to the Future. This is absolutely one of my favorite movies ever. The kit comes with all the parts for the DeLorean including the option to make it look like the version from the original movie, part II, or even part III. All three include the "flux capacitor", of course. The kit also comes with a Lego version of Emmett 'Doc' Brown and Marty McFly with his skateboard.
Me and the kids sat down at the table after having Christmas at home and put the DeLorean together in about an hour or so. Thank you Sandy for the cool gift and kids for spending the time with me to put it together...

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ~Jeremiah 29:11
My colleagues of the Belastingdienst AIX/Linux Midrange Systems team and myself went on a teambuilding exercise. I took my camera of course. We went to Dorhout Mees for skeet shooting (kleiduivenschieten) and we were transported by Havi Travel in one of their luxurious coaches used primarily for transporting the SBV Vitesse football players.
The coach is equipped with an onboard kitchen, two refrigerators, multimedia system, wireless internet access and power outlets per passenger. An onboard generator provides all the electronics with power and is probably also used to either charge the flux capacitor or energize the dilithium crystals.
This picture was taken at the exact moment we exited from hyperspace.
The driver didn't want to use the Infinite Improbability Drive partly because of all that dangerous mucking about with Improbability Factors, but also because the kitchen was all out of strong Brownian Motion producers.

The original DeLorean Time Machine that appreard in Back To The Future. Seen here on show at a Sci Fi weekend event at Papplewick Pumping Station. To the geeks out there, any questions about its authenticity contact the event organisers. Don't shoot the messenger. Troll comments well be deleted at exactly 88 miles per hour!
In the Back to the Future franchise, the DeLorean time machine is a time travel device made by retrofitting a DMC DeLorean vehicle with a "flux capacitor", which allows for time travel when the car accelerates to 88 miles per hour with the necessary 1.21 gigawatts.

Equal to 1,210,000,000 watts, or around 1.6 million horsepower.
Reference: 1985 Flux capacitor that requires 1.21 gigawatts of electrical power to operate… ;-)
The phrase "flux capacitor" has appeared in more serious contexts. U.S. Patent 6,084,285 describes a "lateral flux capacitor having fractal-shaped perimeters." The idea being to make a capacitor in an integrated circuit, some of whose capacitance exists between two conductors on a single layer (hence, "lateral"). The device is not a lateral flux-capacitor but a lateral-flux capacitor; that is, lateral modifies flux, and lateral flux is attributive, rather than flux capacitor compound and lateral modifying capacitor.
The power required is pronounced "one point twenty-one jiggawatts" (or "jigowatt"). This pronunciation of "gigawatt" is correct (as derived from its SI unit prefix giga); in fact many amateur radio operators from that timeframe correctly pronounced "giga" as "jiga", although it is more commonly pronounced with two hard "g" sounds as in "golf."
But while "jiggawatt" is a correct pronunciation, it is an incorrect spelling. Nevertheless, the pronunciation is considered humorous by many people.

We’re here visiting 1950s. The only thing I have from the 50s is this drawing a relative drew back in 1955. He fell off his toilet and bumped his head. When he came around he drew this. We still haven’t quite worked out what it is but apparently has something to do with time travel. The only other instruction was to buy a Delorean but I can’t afford one and they are not supposed to be great cars. Oh well.

Here's a Delorean. Unfortunately the flux capacitor was broken so I could only go forwards in time at the same rate as everyone else.
"Wait a minute Doc, are you telling me you built a time machine ... out of a DeLorean?" Photo by Kat.
Si ven un flaco en la calle sacándole fotos a un autito de juguete y tienen ganas de viajar en el tiempo, me avisan, siempre tengo el condensador de flujo a mano xD
Destination Time: 39:3:07 (4 ABY) (3657 ATC) 12:45 p.m.
Location: Plains of Endor
TK-Doc: "Han! Leia! You've got to come with me!"
Han: "Who the hell are you?"
TK-Doc: "I've come from the future to alert you about your children."
Han: "Hah, children. Not likely!"
Leia: "Don't be so sure of that, Han."
Han: "I thought you said I was a scruffy-looking nerfherder?"
Leia: "I was just mad at you at the time. But once this war is over, aren't you ready to repopulate the galaxy?"
Han: "Oh yeah!"
TK-Doc: "Okay guys, we need to get going..."
Han: "Why? What's the rush? It's the future. We have time, right?"
TK-Doc: "Yes, but I want to be back in time for my favorite show... ah hell you're right."
Leia: "So where to, Doc?"
TK-Doc: "Funny you should say that. We're to prevent your future son from reaching the dark side and taking your future daughter along with him. It causes a chain reaction that will destroy your entire family unless we act."
Han: "Whatever you say, Doc."
Doc takes Han and Leia to 75:5:04 (40 ABY) (3693 ATC) to prevent their son Jacen Solo from joining the dark side. Unfortunately Han hits a doorframe and is knocked unconscious. Leia runs into her older self and faints from the shock. Doc has no choice but to take them back to Endor. Soon after Jacen Solo kills Mara Jade and is given the title of Darth Caedus.
If only there was someone else that could prevent this from happening...

Today, 56 (fake) years ago, Dr. Emmett L. Brown was standing on the edge of my toilet hanging a clock, the porcelain was wet, slipped, hit his head on the sink, and when he came to he had a revelation! A vision! A picture in his head! A picture of this! This is what makes time travel possible: the flux capacitor.
