What a thrill to see the waterfowl flush like this. The only thing better would be to not be shooting it through the brush! : )

Cercis siliquastrum.

Not what I was planning on uploading today… but I'm not near my external drive.

Much better large on black, methinks.

Oh, yes, hbw indeed. :)

The pretty little village of Flushing sits on the side of the Penryn River where it overlooks the town of Falmouth on the other side. It was settled by a Dutch community in the 17th century, who hailed from Vlissingen in Holland, also known as Flushing. Various ships’ captains also favoured this village and built themselves impressive Queen Anne style houses. Like its larger neighbour Falmouth, shipbuilding and repairing has been the stock trade of this village for hundreds of years.

Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens, New York. November 17, 2021.

Just out of frame to the top and left is LaGuardia Airport and the Grand Central Parkway where there's nothing bucolic.

Having just flushed some pheasants out he was just checking the sky for more.

MM medical

"Summer set lip to earth's bosom bare,

And left the flushed print in a poppy there:

Like a yawn of fire from the grass it came,

And the fanning wind puffed it to flapping flame.

With burnt mouth red like a lion's it drank

The blood of the sun as he slaughtered sank,

And dipped its cup in the colored shine

When the eastern conduits ran with wine".

Portrait of an inner conflict.

Cityscape of the Dutch city of Vlissingen from the seawall. The mill (Oranjemolen) at the end of the path is a flour mill built in 1691 or earlier and restored later.

I firmly believe, as a photographer, it is my unsworn duty to see the World differently.....to look and see ‘art’ in the most impossible venues.....to provide answers when inquiring minds want to know.....and yes, to say ‘what the hell’ when reaching for the handle to flush.....

It’s Friday, what more need be said....

Built in 1862, before Flushing was part of New York City.

This happens 5 or 6 times a day. An eagle will fly by and flush 2000 or more cranes. The noise is incredible and it's fun to suddenly see so many cranes take flight.

VLISSINGEN - You will find here the only southern boulevard from the Netherlands. A unique 6 kilometres long boulevard. The promenade consists of 4 parts: Boulevard Evertsen, Bankert, De Ruyter and the Green Boulevard. They stretch from the West dune to the inland ports and the railway station Vlissingen. We have a public transport bicycle rented and through the dunes cycled to the low Lighthouse and then back again!

Although these birds seem indifferent to or curious about my presence, every so often (for reasons unknown to me, as a non-bird) they flush, as a group. This happened as I was trying to focus on a bird that missed the cue, and I liked the effect of the blurred flock departing around her.
