ODC - "pattern"

I am not a blah person and my life is always so full of color and happiness. I ordered this little teacup because I am in the process of redoing my entire house, painting, tearing down wallpaper, etc. The textures within this little teacup just amazed me. Tea anyone?

Nothing makes a statement the way a mid century graphic does. This decorative pillow, embroidered with a graphic floral pattern, is the perfect piece to accent a modern space. See profile for more details.

i'd like to share with you how i made a prayerflag for a friend who suffers from multiple cancers.

Every stitch i made was a prayer for her. i hope she'll find a lot of courage to battle this treacherous disease.

at the same time i hope that the prayers will be carried to those who suffer as much and hopefully they will find the strength to cope with it.

i wrote machine stitched but helped myself by writing the words down in the normal way on a piece of fusible interfacing that i ironed back to front to get the mirrorshape on the back to do the free sewing correctly.

i used a big old nail i found somewhere for the hanging. nails, as we sometimes see in old paintings, are supposed to be the symbol of great suffering.

i added ribbons to help the prayers to be swept along.

i created the black and white flowerpattern by use of the gelliplate to finish the back of the prayerflag.

I thought it was o adorable that she was wearing flip-flops with her unique ensemble.

A blueprint or cyanotype from our Stoddard-Templeton Collection.

Within the Design Records there are a small number of cyanotypes, or blueprints, of early Templeton carpet designs.

In addition to photographing carpets bought by and loaned to the company, it would appear that the Templeton in-house photographer also recorded all their design sketches and patterns, which were then pasted into volumes. The vast majority of the photographs are either black and white or sepia images, with the latter having degraded somewhat overtime. In comparison however, the few cyanotypes within the collection remain very crisp and clear.

The usual stuff about letting me know if you use it and crediting me on your work etc...

I just got a 1.5x teleconverter for my S2 IS, and in experimenting with it, saw that it can do supermacros, but the image looks like this. This is the bottom corner of the blouse I was wearing, held up to let the light shine through.

Have a great Saturday.

This is the state of the flower before it spreads its wings, oops, petals!

I think the flower is Hibiscus trionum, generally called as flower-of-an-hour, bladder hibiscus, bladder ketmia, bladder weed, flower-of-the-hour, modesty, puarangi, shoofly, and venice mallow. Those into botany, please help me with this. Thank you.

so i decided to make the dress in this pic tonight, since i'm too broke to buy a new one. rush hour was on, which ws cool, so i watched that while i made this super simple halter. my previous halters have been way too big, and i just hope that the belt i make will make it look better when i tie it around my waist....

well this time, i made it more customized to my 27" waist, and it actually fits! i'm soooo happy, it came out awesome! i got the fabric from joann's and i just love the pretty gold flowers. i think it looks super vintage-y. i also added some mint bias tape to the top.

also here, you can see my new vintage glasses! my optometrist found them in the back of his office, and gave them to me. they're apparently from 1970, which is my favorite year ♥

12/17/2013: The last time I visited Lovejoy's Tea Attic (their shop across the street from the Tea House), I saw this lovely neck cozy crocheted out of a super chunky weight yarn. I wanted to make one for a present so I googled for patterns and found this one. I found this one from thecrochetlounge.com with credits to rosemaryjayne.deviantart.com: "pattern converted to picture chart from the book The Creative Wife, Vol 6 by Sea & Co Publishings 1915. The pattern title is: Lotus Flower Lace, credits to a Miss Nancy Flintings.

The yarn I'm using: Premier Yarns, Deborah Norville Collection, Serenity Chunky Weight in Chocolate, Crochet needle size: US L-11/8.00mm. It's crocheting up really quickly and it looks like the one I saw at Lovejoy's Attic.

A christmas present i did for my sister.

The original shirt idea was based off this one but felt i needed to do a special one for her because she might also consider it as a tattoo so best keeping it unique.

attempted to make it appear like a traditional tattoo. Not used water colours in awhile though.
