Ceylon Natural Spessartite Garnet - Danu Group Gemstones Collection!
Spessartite is a durable jewellery gemstone in the garnet family and very popular because of its vibrant colour. sometimes, confusing with hessonite garnet. Hessonite belongs to the grossularite species of garnet and is coloured by iron. Spessartite is its own species of garnet and is coloured by manganese and iron, which tends to be a brighter and less brown-orange.
Spessartite Garnet is somewhat rare compared to the common garnet varieties. Gem quality Spessartite has been found in a number of localities around the world, including Sri Lanka, Burma, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Brazil and the USA.
This beautiful Spessartite Garnet is found in Deniyaya, Sri Lanka. Although initially suspected of being found in Antananarivo, we eventually found the source of the gem in the Deniyaya area, Sri Lanka. Danu group is humbly pleased to be able to provide such precious gems to the customer directly from the source. Explore more with Danu Group Gemstones Collections!

I was actually pretty lucky getting this shot -- the vendor got a little mad at me (could barely understand him as it was) and told me that I should really ask before taking any pictures of his wares. I was good all day and asked all the vendors there if I could take pictures -- most of them did not mind at all. However, I forgot to ask this man if I could and blamed it on a "photographers habit." Needless to say, that I did not take anymore pictures of all the cool rocks there because of his grumpy attitude.
I am glad that I did get a couple of good shots of them though! These were captured during the Pleasanton Antiques & Collectibles Faire.
