I'm back from a short trip to Los Angeles, mostly Disneyland.

I tried to keep track of Flicker on my little iPod touch, but all I could do is make a few Favs, making comments was all but impossible with my clumsy fingers.

Disneyland was a bit crowded, but wonderful.

So much to experience and see, day and night.

This is Flo's V8 cafe near the Cars ride.

Thank you, your views, favs and comments are greatly appreciated!

Flo's V8 Cafe, a staple of Cars Land at Disney California Adventure, is reflected in the large rain puddles. Walking around in the rain isn't fun, but I think it's worth it for shots like this.

I know I'm a bit late on the holiday photos, but in all fairness, I've only had the opportunity to take photos once this season, and it was during a short trip. This pano was taken with my new-to-me Sigma 30mm 1.4, and I think this didn't turn out half bad considering that I didn't have a tripod, the lens doesn't have VR and the AF needs to be re-calibrated!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!

It's Christmas time in Cars Land and Flo's V8 Cafe is decked out for the holidays.

Good God I love Neon and Flo's has so much it makes me drool. So does the food...

I almost deleted this photo, from Disney's California Adventure, the other day, but decided to give it another chance. It's not perfect, but it did not deserve to be deleted. Let me know what you think, should I delete it or keep it.

It doesn't get much better than neon reflecting in the rain.

Listening to the rain today in Southern California…Experiencing it last night at Disneyland…. Bliss...This was a bucket list photo for years.

While Hurricane Florence is churning and burning off the Atlantic Coast we have a different Flo to deal with out here on the West Coast. Our Flo might not make the evening news, but that doesn’t make her Web of Chains and Spider Car any less scary.

Cadillac Range provides a stunning backdrop for Cars Land, but it's easily overshadowed by the layers of neon lines that come alive at night.

When Disney announced the seasonal overlay coming to Cars Land I think I may have been the only one who let out a long Darth Vader “Noooooooooooo!” Cars Land was one of the things I was looking most forward to for my first visit to Disneyland (and it was great) but I would have really liked to photograph it completely unadulterated with any sort of layover.

Regardless it’s hard to be disappointed with the result. The neon is gorgeous in person and looks magnificent photographed as well. I was especially drawn to the colors of Flo’s V8 Café. The land is really fantastic and the scale of Radiator Race Springs is impressive. I’m not even a Cars fan but seeing how this turned out has me excited for what they do with Star Wars land.

Cars Land and Radiator Springs in Disney's California Adventure all decked out for Christmas 2017.

Bracketing shots for Flo's V8 Cafe is a must with all that neon lighting. This is a 5-shot HDR done in 1 and 1/3rd stops. I"m happy with the results. I even managed to pull some stars in the sky. You should be able to see them ok on black.

Going with the neon Flo, Christmas season in Cars Land.

I’ve got another shot of Flo’s V8 Café from Cars Land’s Radiator Springs. This was one of my favorite things to shoot in all of California Adventure. The color scheme is very appealing and getting the neon just right in post is a fun challenge. Hopefully I’ll get to visit again in the future and shoot it without the layover!

Deals can be made but beware the fine print.

One of the most visually stunning buildings in Cars Land. Flo's has excellent food as well!

Another shot of my new favorite spot in all of Disneyland. I have no doubt that in the next few months I will have photographed every square inch of this place.

Flo's V8 Cafe is decked out for the holidays and looks as gorgeous as ever.

On my way out of Cars Land there must have been a dozen photographers all lined up on the ground taking a shot here. I decided to quickly switch to my 24-70 and shoot over them for this “compressed” shot of Cars Land. I really like it because it brings so much of the land in to a single shot.

I know I've shot a virtually identical shot to this one but now that I have a new camera and L Series glass, it's nice to go back to some of my favorites and try them anew.

Cars Land in general is great but I especially love Flo’s V8 Café. The building itself is very visually appealing and the neon colors here are amazing. The pink especially is epic. I find it to be interesting to edit as well. The question to me is how far do you take the white core of the neon. I fall on the less is more side and try very hard to not have any individual spot be completely blown out.

Flo's V8 Cafe is a glorious piece of architecture surrounded by oodles of neon that just screams to be photographed.

If any of you out there are wondering just how long I sit on some of these photos before posting them, the Christmas decorations on Flo's might give you some idea.......but just wait til you start seeing the ones with Halloween decorations...

I simply love how the neon lights look against the Cadillac Mountain Range.

Let me know what you think and thanks for looking!

On a side note - I've been busy the past couple of weeks so I apologize for not getting to everyone's photostream.

Flo's V8 Cafe might just be the coolest place to fuel up in any Disney Park.

On this particular evening, we had just as cool of a security guard who chatted with us while Bill & I ran all over Cars Land with tripods and he didn't care. THANKS William! You made our night!

Cars Land inside Disney’s California Adventure is one of those places that you must experience at night to truly appreciate it. Sure it looks good in the daytime, but it’s when the sun goes down and the lights come on that it really begins to shine.

Radiator Springs, Disney California Adventure

Along with the conveniently located Flo's V8 Cafe directly across the street.

I made the trip up from San Diego after work last night and was really happy with everything I saw. I was surprised by how easy it was to park, get into the park, and get to Cars Land. It was busy, but nothing more than a busy summer day. Cars Land was great, as was Buena Vista Street. Photographically, it is an amazing place. The details, lights and colors are incredible.

To the average visitor, I wonder how successful Cars Land will be. We only rode Radiator Springs Racers (A big thank you to the guy leaving early that gave us 4 fast passes). I really enjoyed the ride, and I think it will join Tower of Terror, Toy Story, Soarin' and Screamin' as one of the major attractions of DCA. It is definitely bound to be a big hit with very long lines for months to come.

The other two new rides, Mater's Junkyard Jamboree and Luigi's Flying Tires seem very unappealing to me. I can see Mater's being enjoyable for some people, but the Luigi's flying tire ride just seems like a complete miss, what is the point of the ride? It seems like they threw in the beach balls to give riders something to do, because otherwise the ride was a complete waste.

Overall I'm happy they built the new land, especially from a photography perspective, but I question how strong the longevity of the land will be. From the time it was announced it seemed very strange that Disney would theme an entire land after a movie. If it were a classic Disney movie it might make more sense, but Cars just seems like a movie that will be forgotten 5 years from now. Many elements of the themeing are unbelievably detailed which is what separates Disney theme parks from the competition.

There was a lot to see yesterday, and I'm very happy I went for opening day, I look forward to seeing the photos others here post over the next days and weeks. Photographically the new attractions are everything I had hoped and more, it's going to take me a long time to get through the processing of all the images I took yesterday, and all I want to do is go back and shoot more.

8 Flo's V8 Cafe's are reflected in this Mickey balloon.

I was laying flat on my back in front of Flo's taking a photo when a lady and her little boy walked by me. She was carrying this balloon and I noticed all the great reflections in it. I immediately jumped up and asked her to stop for a moment while I took a picture. Her little boy really had to pee and was doing the Little Boy Has To Pee Dance really bad. She was a good sport and let me fire off a few before running him to the bathroom.

Diane scolded me for making the little boy wait and said that he probably peed his pants because of me. My reply was "Hey, the photo is all that matters!"

As I was shooting this the other night, Bill was just to my left creating what will be an amazing shot of the front of Luigi's. I would have included more of Luigi's but as usual, there was some guy standing there with a camera.

I call this I am Spartacus becuase I took it with my brand new Canon 5D Mark III camera that I named Spartacus. When I bought my first DSLR, a Canon T1i, it quickly became the other woman in my life so my wife named it Stella. Once I got the 7D, it was a big brother to Stella so it was named Cameron. (get it) Now that I have the Big, Big brother to them, I thought Spartacus was a good name for it.

This is a 12 section panorama, with each section consisting of 7 exposures. Once those were fused in Photomatix, I layer masked in different parts of different exposures to tone down the neon and such. Then I stitched the panorama together in CS6 and applied a touch of Tonal Contrast in Nik Color EFX to it. A few finishing touches in Photoscape and there it is. This is a smaller version of the original image which is 20" x 60". Maybe I'll print it one day.

I think this photo is a requirement for anyone with a Camera, Tripod and a Disneyland Annual Pass. Haven't eaten at Flo's so I can't comment on the food, but I can say I understand why they no longer sell gas there. Next time you are there check a few of the pumps, do the math, and you will see what I mean. Flo used some fuzzy math back in the day.

It's pretty hard to take a bad photo in Cars Land, but that shouldn't stop any dedicated photographer from still giving their best effort on each shot they take there. Which is why I found myself taking the photos for this panorama TWICE, after the first time yielded not-quite-in-sharp-focus shots of the middle section. They went to the trouble of making Cars Land look perfect for us, so we should try and be perfect for them!

Flo's V8 Cafe stands ready to fuel up weary travelers that are running on empty...

I'm a huge fan of neon, I think it's the best HDR subject out there. Every time I walk into Cars Land at night I get excited about how much neon is there.

Nice to see Cars Land and Disney's California Adventure getting into the Halloween spirit this year. I honestly don't know if I like this one or not, but since I had to sit on the ground for 15 minutes waiting for a clear shot I thought I should go ahead and post it. Is it good or lousy? Let me know what you think.

Last night after work, Alan and I drove through Carsland. I wanted to pack light because I was only there for a few hours, so naturally I took my heaviest lens. This is one of the striking details on Flo's V8 Cafe.

The first cars movie was just OK to me, and I never saw the second movie, but Cars Land is still my favorite place in Disneyland or California Adventure. The lights, colors, and detail in every architectural element is amazing.

My own take on an awesome icon. This was our first trip back to DL since Cars Land opened and it was just as great as the first time

Cars Land, Disney California Adventure, Anaheim, California

Wow, it's been a few months since I've lasted posted a photo, sure don't have the spare time I used to. Working for the mouse takes up all your free time! I think my shutter finger is a little rusty...

I went into the park the other day with just my fisheye and challenged myself to see things in a fresh perspective. These yellow trees outsides Flo's have always caught my attention but this time in particular with the sun setting the light was spectacular.

As always, comments and constructive criticism are welcome and appreciated! I'll do my best to comment back as soon as I can!

My new MUST photograph and MUST eat at location at Disney California Adventure is Flo's V8 Cafe. It's not that the food is that great, it's ok but I just can't resist that interior design and all that gorgeous neon.

Neon, Neon and more Neon. Oh how I love thee...

Radiator Springs all decked out and dressed up for a Cars Land Halloween inside Disney's California Adventure. I know the telephone poles are a necessary part of the theming of Cars Land, but they are really a pain when it comes to taking pictures.
