Texture/Painting Topaz Studio 2

Lit using a small LED torch from below and behind and my ever faithful black plastic doormat for a back drop.

Almost looks like Neon light.

A visit to my local library garden at the end of the day as the sun was going down.

Hello Everyone,

I do love poppies and hoped to create a summery feel to the image. This was edited with an expressionism filter in Topaz Studio. I was going to add line edging, but that got a bit garish, so I nixed that idea. Sometimes it's hard to tell when to stop pushing those sliders around! Happy Sliders Sunday! HSS!

p.s. I got my first shot yesterday of AstraZeneca. Haven't been feeling the greatest, so please forgive if I'm slow in commenting on your lovely images.

Thanks a million for stopping by and for leaving a comment. I do love hearing from you!

Have a wonderful day!

Hello Everyone,

I've been thinking about spring because it's been cold and miserable for quite some time. I decided to play with peonies and add a splash of colour to beat the winter doldrums. Edited with effects in Topaz Studio for Sliders Sunday. HSS!

While the northern hemisphere is settling into their autumn, we are into our spring here in the southern hemisphere and, for the first time in three years, it actually feels like a spring. I thought this budding agapanthus about to bloom might be an appropriate photo for the season.

Fun facts about agapanthus. They are native to South Africa, considered an invasive weed in NZ , some people who fear thunderstorms wear them for luck and, lastly, my neighbour Annette has some really tall ones in her front garden. You’re welcome 😉 Enjoy your spring or autumn as the case may be.

Hi there,

Convolvulus arvensis or Field Bindweed scrambles over the undergrowth searching out the sunlight.

Dahlias are a captivating and diverse group of flowering plants celebrated for their vibrant and intricate blooms. These flowers belong to the Asteraceae family and are native to Mexico and Central America. Dahlias come in various sizes, shapes, and colors, ranging from small, button-sized pom-poms to large, dinner-plate-sized blossoms. Their petals can be single, semi-double, or fully double, displaying a wide spectrum of colors, including shades of red, yellow, orange, pink, purple, and white.

Dahlias thrive in well-drained soil with plenty of sunlight, typically grown from tubers planted in the spring after the threat of frost has passed. Regular deadheading (removing spent blooms) encourages continuous flowering. They are versatile plants used to beautify flower beds, borders, and gardens, while their long stems and showy blooms make them popular choices for cut flower arrangements and bouquets.

In regions with cold winters, dahlias are often treated as tender perennials or annuals. To overwinter them, dig up the tubers in the fall after the first frost, let them dry, and store them in a cool, dark place until spring. Despite their beauty, dahlias can be susceptible to pests like aphids and slugs, as well as diseases like powdery mildew and fungal infections, necessitating proper care and vigilance.

Symbolically, dahlias convey meanings of elegance, dignity, and a commitment to an eternal bond in the language of flowers. They are often used in wedding bouquets and other formal arrangements. In Mexico, dahlias hold cultural and symbolic significance as the national flower, further enhancing their charm and importance.

Hello Everyone,

This peony scene were one of a bizillion pictures I took of these flowers in 2020 as it was one of those years that peonies did really well. For Slider's Sunday, I applied an abstract filter and made colour adjustments in Topaz Studio. I just wish there was a way to add the scent of them which was just heavenly. Happy Sliders Sunday! HSS!

Hello Everyone,

For Wannabe Warmer Wednesday, I combed the archives for a flower image which had yellow and/or orange colours. It has been overcast and raining with a bit of snow, so I thought a blast of warm colours would be grand. I'm hoping that this image warms up your spirits whether you live in a cold climate or otherwise. Happy WWW!

As much as I hate to see flowers fade, they carry their own beauty. Edited with effects in Topaz Studio for Sliders Sunday. Happy Sliders Sunday! HSS!

A sidenote: For today, I wanted a more rustic appearance. However, I think I'd like to fool around with this image in monochrome as well. Seems that the possibilities are endless!!!!

Hello Everyone,

These are the wee blooms of Blue Vervain which can be grown in a garden or found in the wild. I took the image to Topaz Studio to slightly saturated only the purple tones and then pulled some sliders here and there and everywhere! It is always a grand experiment to try these different things! Happy Sliders Sunday! HSS!

Hi There!

With our temperatures dropping, I have been re-visiting my spring archives. This iris was spotted in a back lane on one of my walks; you never know where you'll find a flower! I decided to aim for a classic impressionist effect for this stately flower. Edited with effects in Topaz Studio. Happy Slider's Sunday! HSS!

Hello Everyone!

“Life is about using the whole box of crayons.” – RuPaul

I think Rudbeckias are lovely flowers, but I found myself asking this, "Do they always have to be yellow? Why not change the colours?" Why not?!

This rendition was accomplished via Photoshop Elements 15 and Topaz Studio (Oil Spill 1). Happy Sliders Sunday! HSS!

Another macro for Macro Mondays, theme curves. It's actually an individual agapanthus bud covered in raindrops. Have a great week every one !

Spring comes, summer smiles

autumn goes, winter stays..

Black Eye Susan flowers

A little bunch of flowers, then a little slide here, a little slide there. Hopefully I got this to look more like a painting than anything. I really enjoy impressionism so this is something along those lines (I hope). HSS! Happy Sliders Sunday!

For Macro Monday's "New" theme.

The front lawn here has been overrun by these tiny little native violets for near 10 years now. About twice a year I mow them, sadly, which I did recently. Quite fitting that at the start of a new year, a few of the violets having start to grow back - new life. This little fellow was about 5mm across. The meek shall inherit the lawn?

Happy new week out there, hope the post Christmas/New Year hangovers have all dissipated.

I love both low & high key photography. The deep colour of these lovely poppies, and the soft focus just suited low key for me.

One of my Linseed/Flax images taken in very bright sunshine but luckily the wind dropped. The sun hitting the back of these little flowers lit them up just as if they were plugged into the electricity.
