After being used in 2019 for a role in the Marvel film ‘Black Widow’, which was released in 2021, former Soviet Air Force Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-27K ‘Flogger’ 61912507006 ‘71’ received fresh colours. Volunteers at Newark Air Museum’s Winthorpe site carried out the work on this Cold War veteran.

The name Boot & Flogger refers to a corking device. The leather boot holds the bottle whilst the wooden flogger 'flogs' in the cork.
30 years ago in October, I have called myself a "Zivildienstverweigerer" (an alternative cilivilain service denier) and put on a green dress (which I have washed with toilet cleaner to get out the green color to look more "experienced"). Military service was mandatory in Germany at that time. One of the things, that I have received was a deck of cards with planes and helicopters from different points of view, which I had to learn to recognize. Some showed this plane, a MiG23, which has the Nato reporting name "Flogger". It was cold war and I would have had to shoot at it with a little 20mm anti-aircraft gun, before I would have been grilled :-) It is kind of strange to see a Flogger this close. This plane is being refurbished to be part of the exhibition.
The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23 (Russian: Микоян и Гуревич МиГ-23) is a variable-geometry fighter aircraft, designed by the Mikoyan-Gurevich design bureau in the Soviet Union. It is considered to belong to the Soviet third generation jet fighter category, along with similarly aged Soviet fighters such as the MiG-25. It was the first attempt by the Soviet Union to design look-down/shoot-down radar and one of the first to be armed with beyond visual range missiles, and the first MiG production fighter aircraft to have intakes at the sides of the fuselage. Production started in 1970 and reached large numbers with over 5,000 aircraft built. Today the MiG-23 remains in limited service with various export customers.
The basic design was also used as the basis for the Mikoyan MiG-27, a dedicated ground-attack variant. Among many minor changes, the MiG-27 replaced the MiG-23's nose-mounted radar system with an optical panel holding a laser designator and a TV camera. Ground-attack variants of the MiG-23 were also produced, and these generally saw better export success, retaining more multi-mission capability.

The families of the pilots have gathered to wave them goodbye.
It must have been quite an operation to get all aircraft ready for their flight to Russia.
The perfect size for four wonder frogs- but that doesn't mean I can't buy anymore- I bought the next size up, too, lol!

A Vintage Leather Jacket from Lewis Leathers
I guess this old leather jacket could tell a tale or two.
It reminds me a bit of my old jacket that I flogged to a bloke in the pub - mmm now why would I do that? Hindsight is such a wonderful thing.
