"Keyboard warrior, three o'clock!!!"
In 1997, New Line Cinema released the film 'Wag The Dog' starring Robert DeNiro and Dustin Hoffman. The movie sets had to be destroyed afterwards as those two actors had left visible bite marks after chewing the scenery so hard.
The film, released during the real life Clinton administration, charts the manufacture of a war to paper over the cracks of the low approval rating of the incumbent (fictional) president.
The Hollywood producer character played by Hoffman decides to set the war in an Eastern European country that very few Americans could find on a map. The plotters use green screen technology for the ruse, and even have symbols to sell the idea such as shoes thrown into trees, the men of the 303 and even a natty camo pattern.
I'm not sure if the film won any awards.

Poznan-Lawica, 25 August 1991.
The first large airshow in Poland after the end of the Cold War was held at Poznan-Lawica. Most types in service were demonstrated on this day. These four MiG-23s came from Slupsk. The Flogger-Bs were all retired in September 1999.
The numbers in this formation: 012, 457, 458 and 460.

Flog of war
In the run up to D-Day the allied forces wanted to have an easier landing in continental Europe. The shortest distance was to land in the Pas De Calais but that would have been too obvious.
So instead an army of inflatable tanks and trucks were assembled in South East England nearest to that point to make the enemy think an attack would take that route
This was classic deception, misdirection, in short... a ruse.
It showed that in the fog of war it was possible to deceive others when done on a grand enough scale by flogging (selling) an illusion.
The tank shown here is affectionately called Stompy and if I am correct I believe it was a left over from a theatrical production of a a Shakespeare play set at Battersea Power Station.
