No, not jugs, I can't say I wasn't tempted but instead I went for jewellery
1) is the oldest jewellery I could find, I don't insist it's the oldest in there though. This is a neolithic obsidian necklace (maybe a belt), a glassy black rock made in volcanos. It's around 8000 years old from Northern Iraq, the obsidian came from Turkey. John Lord, the flintknapper, once showed me a worked obsidian arrowhead which was a beautiful thing
"Big Obsidian Flow" at Newberry Caldera in Oregon is a spectacular sight. Over a mile in length, and 60+ feet in depth, there's a lot of obsidian here!
