This is the southern view from Brachina Gorge. Whilst the landscape does look surprisingly dry, the photograph was taken during winter (mid-July).

After 509 kilometres of driving we arrive at the Outback post of Parachilna. There's nothing here apart from a pub/hotel and some ramshackle portacabins - where I'm staying.

Massive glacial diamictite recording the Sturt Ice age ~680 Ma. It's up to 2km+ thick in the Arkaroola-Mt Painter Sanctuary.
