So Taylor Swift arrived in Sydney at 1.25pm today by private jet.
Flight VJ993. The most tracked flight on Flightradar, lol.
And so here is a Sydney summer sunset for Taylor. Photographed from Cremorne Point, exactly where her weekend harbour cruise will undoubtedly take her!!
And I am now officially poorer than ever before, with Miss 16 and Miss 18 all set for Sunday's epic Taylor Swift concert at the Sydney Olympic Stadium (Accor Stadium), with tickets costing a stupidly ridiculous $379.90(AUS) each for A Reserve.
No flat white coffees and lemon tarts for me for six months - at least.
But no doubt I will 'Shake it Off'. And so here's Taylor Swift with her iconic song 'Shake if Off', lol.

Sometimes the night sky springs pleasant surprises!
One such event took place during my session on imaging the rising waxing moon, dubbed the Snow moon in North America, on Thursday night (25th February).
During an early imaging run an aircraft flew right through my field of view and transited the moon virtually at midpoint!
I couldn't believe it.
Consulting the Flightradar app. identified the aircraft as an Easyjet A320 enroute from Belfast (BFS) to London Gatwick (LGW)
Really happy to catch this by pure chance - not knowing the flightpath lol!!
My camera was operating at full res. at around 3.5 to 4fps and has captured 3 frames in total showing the aircraft entering and exiting.
Fascinating to see the disturbance on the moon's image caused by the hot exhaust gases.
Imaged with a Skywatcher Esprit 120MM refractor and a ZWO 2600MC.
This image is a single frame extracted from my video run.
A lovely unexpected bonus to the evening's session!
In the early evening of 10 August 2024, I captured a unique image of the Sun. It clearly shows sunspot AR3780, a particularly pronounced active region of our star, testifying to the intense magnetic activity on its surface.
At the same time, a Ryanair plane, a Boeing 737 flying from Venice to Birmingham, crossed the solar disc, providing a spectacular superposition between a natural celestial phenomenon and a human presence in the sky.
This photograph illustrates both the cosmic grandeur of the forces that drive our Sun and the finesse of an ephemeral moment when astronomy meets aviation...

According to Flightradar 24, this is Flight TP763, an Airbus A320-214 (CS-TNW) from TAP on rute from Oslo (Norway) to Lisbon (Portugal).
I've been watching Flightradar all day and very few passenger flights passed over today. Here is an Air France jet flying from Paris to LA.
Acording to Flightradar 24, this is Cargolux CLX9737, on route from Novosibirsk (Russia) to Stansted (England).
LX-OCV are flying at 34000 feet (10.200 meters).
A Boeing 747-4R7(F).
Worth looking large to see what I mean . It is that helicopter that lands in a back garden not too far away - I hasten to add the houses over that way are way much bigger than our tiny place . It is the helicopter that has been photographed by many over time with Tom Cruise in the right hand seat !!
It is useful having the camera with the longer reach stashed very close to hand for these sorts of times .
The Spitfires from Biggin Hill often fly past when they are off to Kemble Airfield , but they are usually far too quick to get a shot unless you spot it on it's way on flightradar !!
Oh this one is a AS-350B-3 Ecureuil
Arriving from Fort Worth, Texas (FTW) this morning. Nice to see another 737-500 especially a VIP one. Interestingly enough this one is not blocked on FlightRadar. One of 17 737-500s on the FAA register.
Inauguration of the Pozna}-Amsterdam route. Plane with the PH-EXM marks landed in the capital of Wielkopolska region at 3:52 pm and then, with flags flying, taxing to the ramp. Flights with numbers KL1273 / 4 will be operate five times a week.

A quick look outside in between downpours to see if there were any shots to be had . Spotted a hoverfly chancing it in a dry spell and a tree stump with little bits of fungi -- and a passing aeroplane looking somewhat eerie as it passed through some clouds . I did not waste time checking flightradar 24 to see what it was and where it was going as the rains were about to start again .
My guess as to the aeroplane would be a Boeing 777 or 787 .
Sunset clouds with a contrail of a high flying aircraft. Probably heading for Reykjavík if my Flightradar 24 is correct.

Antonov An-26-100 is a twin-engined turboprop short-to medium-range civil aircraft by the Soviet design bureau OKB Antonov. it is used by few regional air companies. This airline you will not find at Flightradar but it regularly appears at LED.
Later this evening REX airlines were placed into administration and all 737 flights stopped. This was one of the last 737 flights to work out of Melbourne.

Snapped on an eastbound flight from Amsterdam, Netherlands to Heraklion, Greece - somewhere over the Austrian/North-Italian Alps. Over the years I've learned a few musts for any flight that is during daytime or at dusk/dawn:
- Always sit at a window seat.
- Always pack a DSLR and keep it on your lap. Optionally, have a zoom lens at the ready, though any good sharp lens will do.
- Research your route beforehand on Flightradar. Flying at dusk? Get a west-facing window seat. Final approach making close passes over cityscapes and beautiful coasts? Get the best view of it by knowing which side will likely see what.
You don't always get lucky though!
On first of April in 2015 an airplane couldn't land at the nearbly airport, because of the strong wind. I heard strange airplane noise, so I checked FlightRadar and noticed that it had been flying around for a couple of times. So I ran out with my camera and tried to take a photo of that plane. This photo is my favourite, because it is inside the clouds, I just like it. I should buy a telephoto lens next. :)
A plane flying through the moon. Shot in RAW from the garden with a Canon EOS 5Dmkiii, 70-200 2.8L IS lens and a x2 extender on a Manfrotto monopod. Post prod in DxO Optics pro and Adobe LR5. I'm quite proud of this shot.
The plane is an Airbus A319-112 operated by Vueling, flying from LHR to FLR (thanks to FlightRadar24) Altitude 24.524ft (7474 m) speed 404kts (748 km/h)

In Wahrheit schrottreif?

Operated on behalf of British Airways by Brymon Airways.
'Chelsea Rose', England World Tail livery. (just fitted with a new half rudder).
First flown with the deHavilland Canada test registration C-GEOA, this aircraft was delivered to Brymon Airways as G-BRYI in Mar-91. Brymon was merged with Birmingham European Airways to form Brymon European Airways in Nov-92.
It didn't last long, the company was split again in May-93 with the jet aircraft going to Maersk Air UK and the turboprop aircraft being transferred to Brymon Aviation, now owned by British Airways.
The aircraft was operated for British Airways Express by Brymon in full BA livery from Jul-93. In Mar-02, Brymon was merged with another BA franchisee, British Regional Airlines to form British Airways CitiExpress.
The aircraft was sold back to Bombardier Inc as C-FFBG in Jun-05 and was stored at North Bay, ON, Canada. In Mar-06 it was leased to Air Southwest (UK) as G-WOWE. It was briefly wet-leased to Aurigny Air Services (Guernsey, CI, UK) in May/Jun-11.
In Jul-11 Air Southwest was taken over by Eastern Airways (UK). The aircraft was returned to Bombardier Inc in Jan-12 and stored (at Calgary, AB, Canada ?). It was sold to Avmax Aviation Services as C-GRUR in Sep-12 and leased to CMA Central Mountain Air in Nov-12.
It was withdrawn from service in Nov-17 and stored at Calgary, AB, Canada. It was returned to Avmax in Jun-19 and remained stored until it was ferried to Luanda, Angola in early Dec-22. It was leased to Fly Angola as D2-FDX later that month and continues in service.
However, as of 12-Jul-24, the aircraft continues to appear on Flightradar 24 as C-GRUR! I assume the box has never been changed to a new ADSB code... Updated 12-Jul-24.
these guys literally headed for the hills of Lantau Island with this weird-a$$ go-around they did?! According to flightradar they were climbing through 3000ft at this point (at most, judging from standing underneath) , which is rather "optimistic" considering the height of the terrain around here...wonder if the Big Bhudda is still up on its hill??
