A pair of macaws about to alight on a beachside ironwood tree splash a lot of color against the clear blue sky. An unusual sight on Oahu, this pair were likely escaped or released captive birds rather than vagrants. I first observed them in January 2022 at this same location.

Large Flight Simulator one of the largest I have seen, however I am sure there are bigger ones, this is just fascinating, have to see if I can get a chance at it,( the kid plowed up the dirt right after this shot) shot in North Carolina.

While viewing, with binoculars, the juvenile Peregrine Falcons at Morro Rock this morning from 75 yards away, this female flew directly at me, then over my head about 5 feet above. She then strafed 3 pople walking then turned, landed in the parking lot and hopped around like a crow. Of course I had no camera. So I quickly drove home (1 mile) returned with gear and Alice and we got some in flight shots and observed a food drop. This was an amazing experience. Falco peregrinus; Morro Bay; CA; USA
just a little image to show how busy the flight of a puffin really is..
fantastic litle birds............
Seen the other day in the yard. Interesting in that when I look at the color version I see the birds taking flight against the sky and tree bokeh which is on the verge of Fall colors. You can see the color version in the first comment. When I look at the B&W version I see an amazing pattern of light and shadow (step back a bit) and then when I look closer I see all the wings and birds in flight. To me, it's all about the pattern in the B&W version.
