A common sight accompanying heavy or more specialized ground forces, the FlatHead is a reliable and agile weapons platform boasting relatively advanced armor and fire control systems, maneuvering thrusters, and then-unparalleled modularity. Mass produced, FlatHeads are frequently fielded as force multipliers in large-scale engagements, only taking on more specialized tasks for smaller deployments.

Common armaments include the HVK 'Havoc' repeating cannon, and the evergreen pairing of the TM8 'Regenschild' blunderbuss and KM95 'Calico' heavy machine pistol.

With the advent of the Anvil and Cairn classes, the first-generation FlatHead is being gradually phased out in favor of its more specialized descendants. First-generation FlatHeads still maintain some presence in the field, as decommissioned examples are auctioned off to edge system militias, PMCs, and Mech-Athlon leagues throughout Terra Collective space and the surrounding regions.
