SMU15 #flashbackfriday: Residing strategically in Singapore’s buzzing arts and heritage belt, SMU is a firm supporter of the development of creative potential. In September 2005, SMU first hosted the Singapore Art Show, displaying sculptures and other works of art by Singaporean artists all over our campus. This paved the way to host subsequent art events, notably the Singapore Biennale since 2006. Find out more about SMU's milestones at bit.ly/1vgd15G and take a walk down memory lane with us! #sgSMU15
i think you can tell that my obsession with making sure things had a 'theme' or matched up started early. rhinestone collar, minnetonka mocassins with rhinestones, purple ombre socks...
the doo-doo brown thing? that's a hearing aid. it was the most awful thing ever- not that it helped me much but other than being conspicious it had really loud feedback every time i smiled or laughed. made wearing it really fun, i tell ya.
SMU15 #flashbackfriday: SMU’s tradition of hosting the Singapore Biennale started in 2006. Our Campus Green served as the ‘nerve centre' for the art festival, housing its Information Centre, Media Centre and Gift Shop, designed by award-winning Japanese architect Shigeru Ban. For SMU’s many contributions to the development of Singapore's arts scene in 2006, we were the first autonomous university in Singapore to receive the Friend of the Arts award! #FlashbackFriday - flashing back to one of the greatest moments in USC Band history, circa 1979, when Art Bartner, Director of the Trojan Marching Band, led them into Dodger Stadium with Fleetwood Mac to record "Tusk." Dr. Bartner considers this "perhaps the highlight of my experience at USC" - and we agree it was epic! Photo/Dr. Art Bartner
Throwing it way back with this unforgettable feline fantasy 🐾✨
Our gorgeous bondage kitty was one of the originals—latex-clad, laced tight, and chained at the collar. Whether she was kneeling sweetly with her paws up, crawling to her bowl, or curled up purring after a long day of play, she made submission look like a lifestyle. 💋
From high-heeled mischief to milk-bowl obedience, she knew how to keep her tail in line and her place on the leash.

#flashbackfriday april 19th, 1944. this is my maternal grandfather, patrick trelly in the army air corp (there was no air force yet). he wasn't a soldier or pilot - he was a cook! actually, a baker, and being italian, that seems fitting! we called him papa trelly, and he made the best pastries - cannolis, pizzelles, cakes. he made great pasta dishes too. he was funny - constant with his corny jokes. he loved us a lot, but loved him some genesee beer more! he loved his remote car starter and his car. as he aged, every 2 years he bought a new one usually a huge sedan like a continental. his favorite line? "i want a car with a trunk big enough to put a few bodies in." he grew up poor, and remained that way. for all his love, he still had his flaws. he was a horrible racist, a bigot, smoked 2 packs a day and had a terrible angry italian temper. worst - he was a terrible alcoholic. his friends once found him (in his 70s) passed out in the bushes in front of his apartment. but he didn't really mind! he said he was working out his arm. think: lift beer up, put beer down, repeat. isn't family great?! all of us have our quirks and flaws and happiness, silliness and make mistakes. keeps us real. to live otherwise wouldn't be living.
#FlashbackFriday - to 2014, when Professor Tridib Banerjee (L), James Irvine Chair in Urban and Regional Planning, facilitated a student-led discussion in the Sol Price School of Public Policy.
