Has it been a year already? As we head to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, for the 2017 Pirelli World Challenge Championship race, we’re flashing back to the 2016 race, when RealTime Racing tested their new Acura NSX on Forgeline one piece forged monoblock GE1R wheels. And we wish good luck to our friends at RealTime Racing and to videographer Taylor McGohan, who are collaborating again this year to create some awesome new video content!

Flashback Friday. Just another wave of photos that I am in love with so I retouched with my touch of mohochrome.
#flashbackfriday i don't believe in coincidences. i believe all things happen with purpose; this is my spiritual belief. here is a story. meet herbert m. heilburn, age 91. i met him yesterday (and asked to take his picture) while doing a shoot at lunken air field in #cincinnati. i was with some friends who had asked me to photograph them next to a historic b-17 bomber that was flying in for airport days at the historic art deco terminal. my friend has a cool motorcycle custom painted with pin-up girls and classic artwork of planes that graced aircraft in WW2. herbert asked to see the bike, and he told us his story. herb flew was a b-17 #pilot flew numerous bombing missions over nazi germany. at that time, he was escorted through missions by the all black tuskeegee airmen of the 332nd fighter squadron - they flew p-51 mustangs. 50 years later, he sought out the men who had protected him during his mission with the intent of thanking them. he went to the tuskeegee airmen annual meeting. there he met john h. leahr, who was part of the 332nd. the kicker: not only were they from the same hometown (cincinnati, ohio) but they had attended the same grade school - and appeared standing together in a 3rd grade photograph taken in 1928. john was the only black child in a class of 41 children. herb and john agreed that racial segregation had kept them apart, and they vowed to share their story with the american people in an effort to improve interracial understanding. you can read herb's and john's story in the book they wrote: Black and White Airmen: Their True Story.
Pictured: On July 28, 2004, Exchange associates (from left) Regina Koenig, Barbara Brown, Jack Lauff and Irene Panter received certificates of appreciation from BG James Chambers, 13th Corps Support Command commanding general, for their heroic actions after a June 16 rocket attack struck near the BX at Camp Anaconda in Iraq. (Photo by Maj. Cathy Wilkinson/28th Public Affairs Detachment)
According to an article in Airmen magazine, Koenig and some other associates had been singing “Happy Birthday” to a 21-year-old teammate when the rocket struck.
In February 2012, shortly after U.S. troops left Iraq in December 2011, Koenig told the Exchange Post that she still remembered seeing a “coffee buddy” killed in the attack. Nearly eight years after the attack, she said she could still hear the whistling of the rocket as it headed toward the camp.
The certificates presented by BG Chambers praisws the actions they took “without regard to their own safety or personal risk."
“The ability to reach and take care of people is a human quality not everyone has,” said Chambers, who added that some of the wounded owed their lives to the associates’ quick response.
Me, probably just a bit over a year. I was born on Feb 1, so maybe 15 or 16 months in this photo?
Someone made this poncho for me, I think. I have to ask my mom who.
ETA: Confirmed. Grandma Vivian (my great grandmother - my mother's mother's mother) made this poncho. This would have been 1979. It's a cute little thing -- if you can look past its acrylicness. I have to see if we still have it at my parents' house.
Do you remember what you were doing on this day 25 years ago? We do; we were making our very first wheel ever - the two piece forged RS - and selling it to road racing teams all over North America. A lot has changed since then, including moving on to a MUCH larger offering of new wheel models that are light-years ahead of the old RS in terms of technological advancement and performance metrics. But what hasn’t changed is our commitment to quality, customer service, and continuous improvement; and thanks to that, we’ve been very fortunate to spend the last quarter century doing what we love!
