This is Flash. He was the family dog from the year of his birth, 1983 until he died in 1994. He was a Shetland Sheepdog and was the calmest and most friendly dog you could ever wish to know.
(Most likely my father took this photo but I have no idea with what and exactly what year. It must be in the mid 80's though)

O Flash Mob é um movimento-surpresa de pessoas, que repentinamente se aglomeram para realizar algo previamente combinado e vem sendo realizado de diversas formas mundo afora. Está começando a ser usado também em festas de casamento, como uma atração diferente. No flash mob do casamento de Camila e Marcio alguns amigos começaram a dançar no meio dos convidados, de surpresa, e foram acompanhados aos poucos pelos outros, até que toda a casa estava participando da dança em homenagem aos noivos.

I don't have a speed light to fire right at the end of the exposure but I needed to do this experiment so the built in flash went off at the start of the exposure... not a perfect result but it was a learning curve.
Pennington Flash Country Park is a 200 hectares (494 acres) country park located between Lowton and Pennington, Leigh , in Greater Manchester, England.
The flash is a 70 hectares (173 acres) lake created at the turn of the 20th century by coal mining subsidence, mainly from Bickershaw Colliery, and flooding. Now an extensive nature reserve with several bird hides and a network of tracks and footpaths, Pennington Flash Country Park is nationally renowned for its birdlife and is a classic example of natural regeneration. A variety of well-maintained paths cater for walkers, cyclists and horse riders. Ideal for disabled persons, the Flash's hides have ramps for wheelchair access.
One of the premier birdwatching sites in North West England, over 230 bird species have been recorded on site including: Black-faced Bunting, Nightingale, Marsh Harrier, Spoonbill and Leach's Storm-petrel. Additionally, a wide variety of butterflies, dragonflies and damselflies can be spotted in the area.
Facilities include a small information centre, a nine-hole municipal golf course, a pay and display car park, a children’s play area, picnic and recreation areas, bird watching facilities, fishing on certain shores, sailing, windsurfing and rowing through Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club, a mobile café and toilets.

This effect involves taking a photo at dusk using the flash, to make a clear image, but then moving the camera dramatically while the shutter is still open. You can see a larger, blurred image of one of the three flowers in the background.
Flash is a super nice 3 yr old gelding! This horse is very gentle! Loves people and rides nice. Very quiet and easy going!

Our theme for this week's Miss Match project was Flash. I worked with Katherine Olson and we came up with an interesting combo.

Cut the slot first with a double bladed hack saw. Used a medium sized flat file to enlarge. I usually go 15-18 MM deep on these slots.

Ok so I've been working on this flash unit for a while on and off (not so much free time)
The idea is this. car battery, camera trap, BIG HUGE FLASH that can recharge rapidly but not drain the car battery (so it should be efficient)
Also speedy (this IS speedy with a discharge of around 150 microseconds)
It's almost ready for field testing but it is sort of weak (56 joules). This is a limitation of the radio shack bulb, not my design. Right now the flash is set off with a pushbutton that is connected to 600 volts. I don't think my camera will approve =D
ALSO the cap bank will be replaceable with a much smaller and lower inductance module for ~10-20 microsecond flashes (for hummingbirds and the like)
