A group of Belfast Fixers want to breathe new life into a disused, derelict plot of land, by turning it into a communal football area for younger generations to enjoy.
Their story was broadcast on UTV Live on Wednesday 9th October, 2013.
Led by Shannon Crone and Daniel McArdle (both 17) the group are keen to find an outdoor space for members of their youth club to use and feel the vacant lot would benefit from being developed in this way.
The Fixers are members at the Matt Talbot Youth Centre in Moyard Parade, which has no external facilities.
With the nearest public sports hall almost a mile away, the group hope they can use the adjacent land as an extension of the youth club.

Fixer Jake Gibbins was a care-free, basketball-loving 12-year-old, but things changed when his mum was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and he became a young carer.
The 17-year-old student from Leeds believes many like him easily slip under the radar and therefore wants to educate others on what it means to be child or teenager caring for a relative.
His story was broadcast on ITV News Calendar on Thursday 7th November.

I straightened the picture so the wall would be a straight line and then cloned around the edges that were left from the twisting. Added an adjustment later for extra contrast (bumped this up all of the way) and a very slight "s" curves adjustment layer to make it a little less foggy.
I made a new layer and cloned some of the grass up the edge to cover the gate (at various opacities). I added a new layer of color along the edge of and adjusted opacity to make the blend down from the light and the grass less noticeable.
I used the sponge to increase saturation on the wall and their clothing, then did a bit of burning around the wall and dodging on her shirt so that it would have a little separation from her hair and not just look like a big black blob. Also did a little dodging on their faces.
I emphasized the sunflare with a sunflare brush on a new layer so I could adjust opacity to my liking.
I did this pretty quickly so it's somewhat sloppy... but it was fun :)
The narrator from the Northwest Territory Alliance gives an educational commentary throughout the battle reenactment at the Spirit of Vincennes Rendezvous. She explained that rifles are more accurate, but take at least a minute to reload and were too expensive to be common on battlefields during the American Revolution, so muskets were more prevalent. A musket could be fired up to four times a minute, but lacked the accuracy of a rifle. So toward the end of a battle, when it was time to "clean up the battlefield" (the narrator's words, not mine), the command would go out to "Fix bayonets!" and well... I think you can imagine what would happen next...
No reenactors were gored or otherwise maimed during the Rendezvous. ^_^

Nice neat unit. The controller is between the back plate and front panel - unplug the cables to release it from the washer, then unscrew/clip the back case to get to the PCB. Easy!

It was a slow day so I went home and got our broken toaster. It had a broken wire and it took four guys to advise on how to crimp it back in place. I was utterly thrilled that it could be done and only took 45 minutes. Meanwhile at the other end of the table this was happening. In their picture you can see me sitting at the other end of the table.
