Cutting up the whole floor on the van seemed pointless, I'm goingto rhino line it or carpet it anyway but there was some serious rust holes going on there. Glad to be getting back to this thing.

We are having the gutters and soffits and things replaced, and in the process the team discovered that the wooden rafters at the bottom of the rear of the roof have rotted, so they are replacing them.

Railway construction stage 2, France, during World War I. Soldiers are using large mallets to attach the metal rail tracks to the underlying sleeper beams. A few men have long iron spikes which they appear to be using to lever the sleepers into position. To the right, an officer and a sergeant are standing watching. The sergeant is wearing the grenade badge of the Royal Engineers above his rank chevrons.

The caption describes the track as Broad Gauge. Strictly, Broad Gauge has a distance of just over 7 ft between the rails. Using the soldiers as a scale, this track looks nearer to the Standard Gauge of 4 ft 8 1/2 ins.

[Original reads: 'OFFICIAL PHOTOGRAPH TAKEN ON THE BRITISH WESTERN FRONT IN FRANCE. Rapid railway construction in France. Broad gauge railway at one mile a day. Fixing the rails.']

A Mom & Pop small appliance repair store near my house. I dunno what I like about these little places... maybe the sense that there was a time when people actually fixed small appliances rather than just tossed them in the trash and bought a new one. The wonders of a disposable society!
