When a house is constructed the 'first fix' begins with running the utilities to where the building is to be erected. Natural Gas supplied via a shut-off valve beneath an iron plate in the pavement, through a pipe rising out of the ground would then enter the property through the outside wall.
This photo then is all 'arse about face' as they say in the trade!
The terranced houses along Hoviley Brow once rose up towards the nearby town centre of Hyde. Around 45 years ago though they were demolished to make way for the construction of the M67 motorway. Hoviley Brow disappeared, but the public right of way was maintained across the new motorway with the construction of a footbridge - in the style of a canal 'roving bridge' such as those on the nearby Lower Peak Forest Canal - and beneath the concrete ramp on its northern side sits the gas valve & pipe that would have served one of the demolished houses.

So the wires were supposed to go in the holes below the slots, not be pushed into the slots like I was originally told (see old installation in the photo below). The old wire I was sold was to thick to go in the holes regardless... oh well, live and learn...
Fixing the wiring for the Dulux 80W lights. After 1,5 years of service, they quit on me. After countless hours of research I finally figured out why. The wiring instructions I had initially received was bad. Hopefully it is all fixed now. New bulbs and wiring in.

because of some renewed interest returned to the process making prints based on FAC and coppersulfate.
Emulsion
10ml dest water
2 gr FAC
1 gr Copper Sulfate
1 gr Thiosulfate
apply this to a sheet of paper, let dry.
I exposed here some flowers and the top one is the oiled paper-negative previously used for the FerroBlend. No new oil applied.
Exposure with UV 365nm flood light direct on top of the glass for 10 minutes.
Development
' Rinse very well with normal water changing the bath about 4 times.
developed from the light golden brown color with following mix.
- move the paper as little as possible ie no shaking of the tray just keep it covered with the developer. .
Developer
about 3 gr K-Ferri + 3 gr K-Ferro + 200ml tap water, and a bit of citric acid.
leave it in there until you like the contrast, poor that out for re-use.
Rinse well in tap water, no citric acid added.
dry slow and flat on blotting paper to avoid paper curling. (12-24 hours if possible)
