In Kyiv this season first snow came in two attempts. While in a first try a week ago there was a little of it and it had melted fast and soon gone completely, in the second try a week later it was snowing for a long time and light frost looks like preserve it for us at least for a week. In the photo: middle of the day, last Sunday, taken through the open window.

First snow of the season.Shot moments ago.

The first snow fell at night and nature fell silent. As if magic had happened. I felt like I was transported to another world, so changed was my forest. I breathe the cold, fresh air and I am happy.

Amazing how fast things can change.

Beautiful warm days well above freezing over the weekend and this morning we woke up to snow blanketing the ground. A new scene in just 8 hours.

I know others are not so excited about the snow. Me, I like the change.

These little violas have been 'volunteering' in my gardens and yard for so many years, unabashedly surviving weather that destroys the less hardy. Always a delight.

We got 11" (28cm) total, but it has since settled, and melted only a bit, now down to 6.6" (17cm). Expecting it to remain until spring melt.

Dill umbel in my herb garden weighed down by overnight snow....

It snowed here this morning! I know everyone has had a good dose of winter, but I could not help taking a few shots. It is our first snow!!
