John McGuinness in full control of his bike as he zooms through Kirk Michael on his way to victory in the first race. Its his 18th win! He also broke his own race record.
It is quite noticeable that he handles his bike very differently to many others in that he keeps both wheels on the ground on every one of the 6 laps through Kirk Michael.

Racing Engineering's Fabio Leimer was by far the quickest man on track at Silverstone in wet qualifying for Saturday's GP2 feature race, ending up over nine tenths faster than anyone else could manage.
It was amazing how many sponsors there were at Nascar. In fact while we were honoring soldiers who were wounded in Iraq, they specificly asked them to please stand in the center of the Coca Cola circle. I think Coke was mentioned three or four times while honouring wounded and dead soldiers of Iraq.
Grid girls shelter from the rain ahead of the first GP2 race on Saturday.
#8 Jolyon Palmer went on to claim third place.

At the post, the 8/1 shot "Echo Express" (jockey Mr Lyall Hodgins) takes 11/4 joint favourite "Barnay" by three-quarters of a length. "The Pine Martin" - which at the off was also 11/4 joint favourite - can be seen coming third.
In an eight horse race, you get something back on a "each way" - I'm off to collect my modest "winnings" and after that, it's all give (to the bookies) and no take.

A rather disappointed A.P Mcoy who didn't manage to win his 4,000th race victory today. His first race victory had been at Haldon so it would have been a fitting day to have achieved this historic feat, which he will probably do tomorrow.
Toby McCain-Mitchell, jockey on "Court Dismissed" - which I also quite fancied although well beaten on his first two starts this winter.

One of the delights of Carlisle racecourse is the superb view down to the City. At the end of the first circuit of the first race, "Southeast Rose" (jockey Joe Williamson) has a comfortable lead - my pick can be seen fifth.

Yes, been to the races - and a very strange day with many well beaten favourites and absolute "no hopers" winning by a distance. And not one had my money on!
And we start with the first race - and my pick "The Pine Martin", a 10-year old gelding which "The Racing Post" reported as "respected - if he can cut out jumping errors".

With Joe Fanning on board, the odds on favourite romps home and gets Dad off to a winning start. My horse came second and fortunately, I had an each-way bet.
