Tonight I decided to shoot the Texas Rangers Fireworks. There were fireworks earlier today when Manager Ron Washington abruptly decided to resign his managers position. I was always a Wash supporter and hate to see him leave the team. It's been a fun ride and he will be missed.
I'm a huge fan of the current Wishes setup, and this night I not only tried a different angle, but also tried a portrait orientation rather than my more comfortable landscape.
I keep meaning to go out the Hollywood Studios for more fireworks photos, but things keep coming up!
While getting ready for the first round of firework during NYE at EPCOT, we ended settling into a great spot to watch in front of the Torii Gate. Couldn't remember the last time we ended up watching fireworks from a spot actually at the water's edge. It's been a while, and it was nice!
Only a few remaining perimeter fireworks shots from the Fourth of July celebrations at Walt Disney World left! This 18 second exposure is part of the Rocket’s Red Glare potion of the Star Spangled Banner, and was clearly appropriately themed. Love these fireworks. Hallowishes is just around the corner!
More shots from Disneyland's Halloween Party for #fireworksfriday. Such a fun party! I debated "fixing" the burnt out light on the side of the castle to preserve the symmetry, but ended up leaving it as shot. What do you think? Fix or Not??

This is the first time I've ever seen fireworks at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and to think I almost missed it. I was doing my best to get out of the park to meet up with Adam and Jeff for some shooting but there was no way to exit. Buses were waiting at the entrance, but wouldn't be leaving until after a 'special something'.
So, I planted myself on Hollywood Boulevard and waited for that something. Lucky for me, a little birdie tipped me off to just what that something might be so I had my camera and tripod ready.

Happy #FireworksFriday ! Took the opportunity to catch Wishes from a new perspective...really loved the show from the boat dock. Would have liked the piped-in music to have been a little louder, but a really enjoyed this new perspective.

If you ever have the "joy" of watching Wishes with me (like Hamilton did a few nights ago), I apologize in advance. I typically sing along badly as I shoot, so here's your warning.
Anyway, shooting Wishes is something I've been pushing myself to get better at since I've been down in Florida. This part of the show is something I've wanted for quite some time now, and it was a most happy coincidence that the dream lights came on just as the show was wrapping up (something I hadn't planned on). The combination of the colors, the dream lights, and the always beautiful fan of fireworks made for perhaps one of my favorite fireworks pictures I've taken to date.

I finally had the chance at getting fireworks shots. Weird that it took this long to try. Not the greatest, but I know what I need to work on. Let me know your thoughts.
I watched Illuminations several times during a recent visit to Disney World, but on the last two nights of my visit I decided I wanted to watch Wishes in the Magic Kingdom on the same night. That meant I wouldn't have a whole lot of time to secure a viewing spot for Illuminations ahead of time. In the case of this photo, I just barely made it into Epcot before closing time and heard Illuminations begin before I even reached Spaceship Earth. That limited where I could photograph the show, but also gave me the opportunity to include a little it of the Flower and Garden Festival with the fireworks.

I haven't participate in #FireworksFriday in a while, but I've been holding onto this image for a while. I put it aside while sharing Christmas photos, but it's time to go back to my "normal" fireworks show photos.
This location was sort of an accident, as I found myself without a spot to shoot the show as the lights were being dimmed and I was advised to remain in place for my safety. I retreated to my default spot in the Japan pavilion, only to find the balcony facing World Showcase Lagoon full. It turns out, you can see the show pretty well from the stairs leading to Teppan Edo/Tokyo Dining!
Since this time, I've seen a number of other photographs from this location, so I suspect the secret won't last forever, but there should be enough space on the stairs to accommodate at least a few tripods each evening in Epcot.
If you go to the Magic Kingdom the week after Christmas, not only do you get to watch Mickey's Once Upon A Christmastime Parade during the day without having to pay for a Christmas Party ticket, but you also get Holiday Wishes, albeit without the perimeter bursts.
Yet another picture taken with my Irix 15mm f/2.4, this one cropped in pretty significantly. I'm really happy with the sharpness, even after cropping. To hear my thoughts, read this review: disneyphotographyblog.com/?p=571
For a change of pace, I watched the 4th of July fireworks over Lake Eola this year! They were very good, but very different that Walt Disney World. I'm certainly glad I went! Most of the fireworks shots I captured looked similar, but I liked this one where one of the fireworks exploded prematurely! Thankfully, nobody was injured. Additionally, if you look in the background, you can see tons of tiny little fireworks bursts all along the horizon!

Never had a chance to shoot Symphony in the Sky fireworks from outside Hollywood Studios, so this was my first go. Lots of adjusting went on; I didn't realize how high the bursts were going to go!
Matt and I had a great night shooting fireworks in Arlington. The weather was ideal!

Happy Fireworks Friday! We arrived at Magic Kingdom just before the start of Wishes... With no possible way to get a preferred spot, we set up our tripods where we could find a spot. Certainly a different perspective than I'm used to, but not entirely a bad spot.

One unfortunate consequence of visiting Disneyland in the "off season" was the lack of fireworks and Fantasmic. The only way for us to see any fireworks was to attend the Halloween party (twist my arm...wink, wink). The red was a little more challenging to work with in post-processing to keep from over-saturating. Hope you enjoy!

Been very busy the last couple day on the other side of the fence, so I missed #FireworksFriday... so how about #FireworksSaturday!
This shot was from the July 3rd show back in 2013 from the Polynesian. This was one of my favorite locations to shoot before the DVC bungalows were built. This was near the very beginning of the show, so a bit of blue-hour lighting was still around to add to the shot.
After meeting up with Tom Bricker and his wife Sarah, Justin and I decided that we might try photographing the fireworks from outside the Main Gate...Actually, this is an idea I have had for a while...I have seen other shots from here, and wanted to try it for myself...On this day, I did not have my entire photo bag, and used the fisheye lens that I had attached. While I really like the entry/exit queues and the brickwork in front, the Station and fireworks are kind of diminutive...Disneyland's fireworks are substantially smaller than WDW's, and most of them barely made it over the roof of the station.
Still, this is an interesting scene, enhanced by the fireworks, as opposed to an interesting setting for the fireworks...But I like it!

My third time capturing Holiday Wishes was far more successful than my first two. The first time I was shooting near the Hub and forgot to see the show and do my "research," and the second time was from the California Grill. This is also the first time I've managed to not completely blow out the finale. I thought I had spun my variable ND too dark, but it came out perfectly!

Only a few more weeks left before Christmas, so it's back to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party in the Magic Kingdom for this week's #FireworksFriday .
I was lucky enough to be invited to spend some time at a friend's Bora Bora Bungalow last night, and it included a stunning view of the Happily Ever After fireworks. This was my first time shooting the show. The show loses a little bit, not having the projections, but I think everybody should watch just the fireworks in their first viewing, then see them in-park where they can enjoy the projections. Having both at first can be a bit overwhelming!
