Traditional "Bonfire night" celebrations viewed from the seashore at Burntisland in Fife.
This years event was extremely well attended.
I would like to get rid of 'ego', the root of everything: pride, envy, greed, hatred and that is all fallen. None of these would make our world livable.
Happy New Year all! Have a full blast 2018!

So on this particular Friday night, back on May 24th this year (2024), a flurry of fireworks blasted off above the Sydney Opera House. They looked like a bowl of fruit salad!!
The fireworks occurred as I was walking across the harbour bridge (as you do on a Friday night, lol) making my way from Kirribilli to 'The Rocks' to take pictures of the city, and also get coffee at 'The Rocks Cafe' on George Street.
I was able to capture the fireworks by resting the camera on the top of one of the guard rails along the bridge walkway.
The Opera House sails are featuring artwork from Australian artist, Julia Gutman, who has 'digitised' centuries old fabric making techniques. Here is all the information about the 2024 'Lighting Of The Sails':

The photo of my neighbours' fireworks taken the day before Bonfire Night made into a tiny planet because 1) I like the effect and 2) that's how it felt last night, on actual Bonfire Night: the whole world alight with fireworks and explosions.

We haven't been (and probably won't be) able to go out to any bonfires or organised displays this year for Bonfire Night so my children and I watched our neighbours' fireworks from the safety of our garden tonight. Of course I had to try and take a photo of them - it would've been rude not to! There were loads of them (they must've spent a fortune!) so I was just clicking away over and over again. I then layered them over the top of each other using lighten blending mode and created the resulting images. I'm not sure which I prefer: the one with loads on in a big, spectacular display or is it a case of less is more?
Kudos to the South Fork Fire Department for the spectacular fireworks show they put on for the July 4th holiday.

I'm back...after being locked out of my photostream for days, l finally managed to convince Flickr, l am who, who l am...Happy days.
The pic is of the celebrations in Rome at the Castle Sant" Angelo...that officially marks the end of the Summer holiday season with a huge firework display, which is truly breathtaking and happens every year around this time.
South Fork Colorado puts on an amazing fireworks show. We left a family wedding and rushed 25 miles to get in position to watch the show. We found a spot away from everyone else but could still hear the oohs and aahs of those in the neighboring area. We appreciated South Fork shooting their fireworks off on the 3rd of July so we could enjoy Creede's fireworks on the 4th.
🎆 Had an amazing time at the Marin County Fair watching the fireworks display for the first time! It was a truly mesmerizing experience. Although I wasn't familiar with the perfect viewing spot, I'll definitely be back to capture more breathtaking fireworks shots. The best part? No foggy weather to obstruct the view! Can't wait for my next visit!

LIGHT UP THE SKY – THE AFTERS
Dedicated to my family member; my blood; my homie; who two days ago survived an horrific car crash and walked away unscathed. He is a walking, talking miracle. If I didn't already believe in miracles and angels, I would now … He is my life's blood … cannot imagine my life without him … it would break me! When I first heard the news, I said to God to take me instead, but He spared us both. Feeling blessed :-D
GUY FAWKES' NIGHT
Standing in a muddy field
wellie boots stuck in mud
baked potatoes in the fire
chewing sausages like the cud
half-raw; half-baked; feeling oh so cold
like children we chant Guy Fawkes' rhyme
from childhood days of old
watch in awe as fireworks bang
our mittens cover our ears
why oh why do we do this thing
every single blooming year!
The frost bites at our fingers and toes
the rain is drizzling down
the sausages sizzling but still half-cooked
food poisoning all around
the kids excited just like me
I'm still a kid at heart
a sparkler in my hand starts singeing
my woollen mitts and scarf
my bobble hat keeps my head from freezing
my parka keeps me warm
I try to run in the sticky mud
my friends keep me from harm
tripping here and tripping there
I try to avoid the mire
oops nearly fell over a burning log
that has fallen off the fire
the Guy has shrivelled from atop the pile
as we shiver down below
his inane grin is the last of him
as he's consumed by fire and swallowed
Here in good old Albion
we celebrate like a pagan rite
the man who failed to blow up Parliament
mmmm!!!! we still haven't seen the light ; 0)
