Chinese New Year
Mixed media gunpowder, acrylic, graphite, pigment and deep wood burn on panel // 3”×6”
I used a firework initially, taping it to the panel which burned a deep rut into the wood. Then gunpowder was detonated on the surface and the rest I can't remember. In reshooting this for web I saw a screaming face and now I can’t unsee it.
i love how the lights are going, it is resemble a firework in some way, so i took my camera and have a shot at it, but it didn't appear as nice as the real one, but i got an idea, turned of the AF at my nikon, and then out focus it a bit, and there it is, the fireworks colorful bokeh that i called happy lights!
