Origin: United States. Circa: 1870. Period: 19th Century. TThis pair of English fire screens have gilt wood frames on brass poles, terminating with mahogany scrolled tripod base. The screens have petit point scenes of Scottish historical figures. Shop@HighBoy

Catherine Palace. Green Dining Room. Firescreen. "The pale green walls of the dining-room are embellished with white molded ornament, its motifs taken from wall-paintings in ancient villas. Figures of youths and girls in ancient dress stand out among the fragments of Classical architecture, Greek vases and grapevines".
