Even the bogs here on the West Coast ... this one, at least ... have taken off their drab coat and put on this fiery little ostentatious number. I'm sure someone on here might know what these plants are called ... I can't seem to find them mentioned anywhere and this is the only bog or fen I've seen them on in numbers like this ... but in the fall, they rival any Euonymus alatus, the landscape shrub commonly known as Burning Bush. It is quite a sight to see on the right side of the road if you're travelling the Trans Canada Highway here in Newfoundland between Route 460, the access highway to Stephenville and Route 480, the Burgeo Highway. Enjoy!

In some of the National Forests you can camp for free outside the organized campgrounds and that was the case with the Bridger-Teton National Forest. You can see the fire ring here of fishermen who had previously camped along the Green River not far below the Green River Lakes. A little fog always does wonders.
A fire was set to give further atmosphere and warmth to a damp and chilly day. We got her married to her sweetheart and it was a wonderful experience.

While hiking up to Tinkham Tarns we passed a cozy campsite. The weather was cold and damp. Wilbur would have loved to have a warm fire. Through the magic of Photoshop he got a fire!

The campgrounds are closed, and summer has come to an end in Alaska. The high temperature at our cabin today has reached 41 degree's Fahrenheit, and our low tonight will be 30. Rain, and or snow, has been forecast, and we hope the weather forecasters are wrong this time.

A hand-hewn dugout canoe beside a campfire ring in the Powhatan Indian Village at Jamestown Settlement (Williamsburg, Virginia). Winter sun filters through the pine–hardwood mix, throwing long shadows and a touch of lens flare.
A nearby rancher and his wife pretty much saved the entire trip by giving us a load of firewood.
