Colummbia River-East Wenatchee, Washington
These planes (there were 4) are picking up water from Columbia River to drop on a large brush fire at the south end of Wenatchee.
A new acquisition for our Fire Brigade, still fresh with tyres and all the paint work. In a short time, this wreck will undergo some sort of transformation as the firefighters will use it as a training object and extinguish the fire they themselves will have ignited. Helios 44M-7 probably at F 2 or so.

Top of the firefighters' drill tower in my village. Firefighters do their job here on a voluntary basis. The job can be rather diverse as there is no police station in the village.
Magirus is one of the largest manufacturers of fire fighting equipment. Its fire trucks are primarily based upon chassis and engines from Iveco, but occasionally also uses platforms from other truck manufacturers.
Iveco, owner of Magirus since 1975, sold the business in 2024 and Magirus is now an independent business, owned by investment company Mutares SE.
Happy Truck Thursday!
Yesterday evening, there was a fire in my neighborhood. Thankfully, there were no deaths or serious injuries (from what I've heard) but, sadly, someone's home was horrifically damaged.

A very pleasant firefighter allows me to take a photo of him with his Engine TL17. Pumper Engine 7 was also at the scene, the Westin Hotel in Copley Square. I couldn't think more highly of these dedicated men and women who are always the first responders to an emergency call.
The National Firefighter's Memorial stands opposite St Paul's Cathedral and depicts a Fire Officer and two Firefighters.

Hazelbrook Rural Fire Station.
I've ended up in Katoomba Hospital after fainting in the early hours of Sunday morning so I won't be getting much done on Flickr for a few days ... and then it'll be Christmas.

We had a very dry winter and areas of our country will be at high risk of fire. Sadly some places like Brazil and Indonesia fires are lit deliberately without thinking what they do to the world's future :(
These are real NZ firefighters but the background comes via AI from Bing Image Creator which works much faster than other AIs I have tried.
Have a good week A sunny Monday here so far.
This grave is a reminder that the people who died on 9/11 were real people. And this firefighter wasn’t even 28 when he perished. He gave all he could, for others.
The burnbot is a piece of machinery specifically designed to use in prescribed burn situations. It contains a fire chamber below which quickly burns a strip of grass, then extinguishes it. It's useful for establishing a perimeter for a controlled burn. Firefighters monitor the burn in case of any flare ups of the fire. The burnbot is still in the testing phase and was demonstrated at a recent training event for people to learn about prescribed burns. I was an observer at the event.
An interesting point is that once the grass burns it cools down quickly and can be walked on, becoming one of the safer places to stand. As an observer I am behind an entirely different firebreak which was cleared by a bulldozer.
