Also, from the Duck-N-Jeep Jam.
All registered event attendees received a rubber duck with a unique number. They brought a bucket full of these ducks to their high perch and dropped them onto a toy jeep. The duck which landed in the jeep won the grand prize.
They totally caught me off guard here! I had my camera at the ready to catch the ducks the moment they took ‘flight’. Suddenly the National Anthem started. I put my camera aside, removed my hat and placed it over my heart. At the last (and I mean right at the last) note they tipped the bucket over and let the birds loose. It all happened in a second. Before I could blink the ducks were on the ground. Obviously, I missed the peak moment, lol.
In 1885 the City of Aurora ordered Steam Pumper #1. In 1962 the Cincinnati Fire Museum restored Unit #1 and has it on display at their museum. In 2017 Don Andrew put up $11,000 to start funding for this giant mural. The City of Aurora funded the rest of the money. Local artist Christian Dallas painted the mural.

Goodness, I reckon it would take a firefighter 10 minutes to work these pipes and stop cocks out in order to start fighting a fire. It's like a maze.
But if you look closer, this is also another example of artworks in Burnett Lane, Brisbane, a general photo of which I uploaded recently. If you look closely behind the red pipes, you will see a lot of blue rats hiding, an example of some of the local Blue Ninja Art that is also featured elsewhere on walls in this street and other locations around town. And it's not all rats!

Taken around 1905 in the Ballardvale section of Andover, this is an image produced from a scan of a 5 x 7 glass negative in my collection. This shows what could be a Seagrave Hose Wagon shortly after it's purchase by the town of Andover. At present, the identity of the person on the left is unknown, but the driver could be Jack Haggerty, who drove Ballardvale Steamer N0.2 from 1887 to 1927. I've made a large print of this image that I'll show to the folks at the Andover Historical Society to see if they can provide any information on the wagon and driver.
Two 5 x 7 glass negatives were given to my sister by her mother-in-law years ago, and now are part of my collection. The second plate, to be scanned and posted later, shows an early electric "horseless carriage" with a man (fireman) and a woman seated inside. The man might possibly be the driver of the hose wagon.
