Trying out a new lens

You know those posters that say "today is the first day of the rest of your life". Thats true of everyday but one.

The day you die.

Two firebugs on the tree trunk :)

The firebug (Pyrrhocoris apterus) is a common insect of the family Pyrrhocoridae, about 1 cm. long. Firebugs generally mate in April and May. Their diet consists primarily of seeds from lime trees and mallows. They can often be found in groups near the base of lime tree trunks, on the sunny side. They can be seen in tandem formation when mating which can take from 12 hours up to 7 days. The long period of copulating is probably used by the males as a form of ejaculate-guarding under high competition with other males.

Dwa kowale bezskrzydłe na pniu drzewa :)

Kowal bezskrzydły, kowal dwuplamek (Pyrrhocoris apterus) – gatunek pluskwiaka z rodziny kowalowatych, pospolity w Polsce.

Every bug has slightly different pattern

A pair of firebugs working on increasing the already large population of these insects on the banks of the Rhine at Bonn. This is a common species in Europe but rare in the UK with just a few isolated colonies. However, it is likely that they will become mores established as global warming takes hold.

A new bug for me today, found at SBBOT. Similar to the Firebug but subtly different.

Firebugs (Pyrrhocoris apterus) knows how to take their time when making love. They couple like this and can then spend hours together - with one moving in reverse when they need to get around.

These two had found each other right in front of my house when I spotted them.

Taken for the www.flickr.com/groups/activeassignment/ Wildlife in your neighboorhood! These are so-called Firebugs (Pyrrhocoris apterus) which are living in the wood next to our garden!

The picture has notes. If you can't see them, going to lightbox and back again should do the trick. It's simply a Flickr quirk.

Best viewed in lightbox and on full screen (F11), of course!

David and Goliath (Season 2) - "A Second Chance" - Also, alas, doomed to failure! :-(

Previously on 24 ("Fast Food, on hand") - for those who missed it first time round or who, in the unlikely event, would like to see it again! ;-)

Incidentally, those of you who are meticulous TV addicts can see, from the EXIF data, that all these photos and indeed many others, were taken well within a 24-hour time frame.

You will also notice that I moved Goliath to a more savoury location so that he could digest his meal in pleasant surroundings ...

... but apparently, he hadn't quite finished eating! ;-)

These guys don't move around much and when they do it's normally very slowly and with stealth. However, when a meal comes along they slowly shift into overdrive!

The big guy is of course a praying mantis though the little guy in red is the one that should be praying!

Larva L5 (ultimo estadio)

Hey guys it's Alex here with another Dc figure

So I made Firefly from Batman Arkham Knight, the new helmet from The Wasp was just perfect for this dude👌

The torso is from Gray Squadron Pilot and the legs came in the series 9 on the Alien Avenger

Also the jet pack was the hardest part to make because it's really difficult to respect the minifigure scale and there are a lot of small details😩

So, what do you think ? I hope you liked it and don't forget to leave a comment !

The firebug - Pyrrhocoris apterus

This bright red little guy is a firebug (Pyrrhocoris apterus). The scientific name actually means "wingless fire bug", but that is not entirely true.

This one has wings - it just can't fly which I suppose makes them somewhat pointless.

This one along with a whole slew of its brethren live underneath a couple of large thuja trees next to our house and that's where the brown structures around it come from - it's just dried shoots fallen to the ground.

MANY THANKS FOR YOUR KIND COMMENTS AND FAVS........ PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT MY PHOTOSTREAM, FOR GENERAL PHOTOS OF NATURE ACROSS THE SPECTRUM OF WILDLIFE.

This strikingly handsome bug is found throughout most of Europe. Owing to climate change however, its range is steadily extending towards more temperate regions. Until recently, it was a rare visitor in the south of England, but is now starting to become more common and widespread. I photographed this one a few hundred yards from my home in South Yorkshire

It is often confused with the firebug, which at first glance looks very similar. The cinnamon bug, is between 9-12mm in length and is quite hairy. It is found in dry meadows and is associated with a range of plants. While it is active from April to October, it can be seen throughout the year. This is because adults, which tend to emerge in August/September, overwinter and make an appearance the following spring.

Legero tanke modela 2 de 90 mm malrapido kanona modifaja 1 (parasutaj) was developed by the request of Asparantian Air Forces to provide an airborne armored vehicle capable of performing general tasks such as reconnaissance and limited anti-tank support. The Fajrocime, or "Firebug", was armed with 90-mm low velocity smoothbore cannon equipped with HESH and HEAT rounds. The main armament is paired with coaxial 12.7-mm machine gun.

Loosely based on various airborne vehicles of the "fifties" era - starting with the well-known Engin Leger de Combat to the more obscure ones such as 1955 Chimera tank destroyer (generally known as a "Manticore light tank" thanks to one certain videogame)

This photo has not been photoshopped or processed, it has only been cropped a little.
