One touch—and heat stirs. The flame bends forward, curious, then lingers. What begins as spark becomes dance: slow, tender, then wild. Smoke curls like breath between bodies learning each other. This isn’t just ignition—it’s the quiet becoming of two lights, entwined in rhythm, burning brighter together.

Spotted Phillip Torrone from Make Magazine in the crowd. I would have said hi but he seemed preoccupied with his cell phone and when I turned back around he was gone. We had dinner together with Microsoft exec Jim Allchin earlier this year. A creative and interesting guy.

My new Nikon D200 made its debut at The Crucible's Seventh Annual Fire Arts Festival last night in West Oakland. It was, for sure, a challenging environment for its debut with the intense fire photography and low lighting atmosphere. I definitely need to get more comfortable and acquainted with it, but as a whole, I'm pretty pleased with its performance.
I had a great time at the festival. It's pretty amazing how loud and powerful fire can be.
