Prismacolor Colored Pencils on Canson Field Sketch Paper

This drawing is a reduction in color and shape done by looking at today's earlier posted drawing. The previous drawing is done from a black and white photo source. It's a kind of game I'm playing by trying to remove myself step by step from the original photo. I'm trying to break dependency on purely visual phenomena which my eyes see on the surface of a photo (in this case) or on physical references in general. As all visual perception is only an approximation of what is variably presented by the natural world, I feel a certain kind of relief at not pushing myself toward slavish reproduction in an illustrational or representational manner (light, form, tone and color, perspective, etc). My aim is to reduce and distill some essential color and structural information from each previous drawing until I arrive at a level of semi - abstraction which pleases me.
