That one fig newton that isn't facing the right direction symbolizes me on so many levels. First, I almost always go against the grain. I have no desire to do things the way other people do things, I do them my own way. But then it also represents how as a child with diabetes I felt when I was with other kids my age. Out of place. Different.
"There is an appalling lack of cookies in this house!" I said, loud enough that everyone could hear.
I had each choose one kind of cookie, including Kodak, who, oddly enough, picked molasses cookies (a personal favorite of mine).
Someone gave me a brand new package of fig newtons. I opened them. & The package only had 1 row in it??? Weird?

These were a little tricky...I made a small batch one day that worked...but barely. The next day I made a larger batch and rolled the dough thicker. They worked perfectly.
Interestingly, these tasted much better on the second and third day. On the first day, the cookie had a bit of crunch. By the second and third days, the crunch was gone and they tasted alarmingly like the store bought Fig Newtons...only better.
I will make these again.
