The F-16 Fighting Falcon is a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft. It is highly maneuverable and has proven itself in air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attack. It provides a relatively low-cost, high-performance weapon system.
Probably the nearest i will get to seeing a Lightning fly is this excellent hand made remote controlled model. It really does look the real deal and is powered by mini jet turbines.
Val-Halla, a restored P51 Mustang, flying at the 2025 Abbotsford International Airshow. It was supposed to be taking part in the USAF Heritage Flyover alongside the F35 Lightning II but the F35 hand to land due to technical problems so Val-Halla flew on it's own while the RCAF Snowbirds prepared for their performance. Val-Halla was named for both it's pilots Bill Anders wife Valerie and for the Black Knights P51 squadron that was stationed at Keflavik, Iceland during the Cold War.
Front service from June, 1917, it allegedly shot down more enemy planes than any other type.

The RCAF CF-18 Hornet demo during the 2023 Abbotsford Airshow. The Cf-18s are now due to be replaced by the new CF-35 Lightnings by 2027 making this years airshow one of the last few times that they'll be at Abbotsford. It'll be sad to see them go when they're finally retired.
Love the aerial shot of this plane, I knew I had seen it before. Here it is at the Chandler Fly-in April, 2011. Not the best shot, but here it is anyway.
Replacing our vintage Avro Lancaster, which occupied this spot for more than 40 years and taken off her pedestal for restoration; these two full scale, replica WW2 fighters are on display at Jackson Park here in Windsor. A beautiful memorial for Windsor and Essex counties fallen soldiers. On the right, there is a Hawker Hurricane, and on the left, a Supermarine Spitfire.

A restored Mikoyan Mig-17 Fresco flying during the 2025 Abbotsford International Airshow. It was unique to see this Cold War era jet. Second time that I've ever seen one of these.

A pair of US Navy E/A18G Growlers flying during the Growler demo at the 2025 Abbotsford Airshow. It was loud and the pilots didn't hold back. I can still hear the afterburners when I look at these shots.

The suspended Sea Harrier transforms machine into captive bird, the markings tattooing its surface evoking its namesake the Harrier Hawk. A Jaguar lies belly up on the floor, its posture suggestive of a submissive animal. Stripped and polished, its surface functions as a shifting mirror, exposing the audience to its own reactions. Harrier and Jaguar remain ambiguous objects implying both captured beast and fallen trophy.

Both planes are de-commissioned fighter planes.
The Jaguar has been polished, the Harrier painted with feathers.
Sea Harrier.
This particular plane is BAe Sea Harrier ZE695.
The British Aerospace Sea Harrier is a naval VTOL/STOVL jet fighter, reconnaissance and attack aircraft, a development of the Hawker Siddeley Harrier. It first entered service with the Royal Navy in April 1980 as the Sea Harrier FRS1. The Sea Harrier was withdrawn from service in 2006 and the last remaining aircraft from 801 Naval Air Squadron were decommissioned on 29 March 2006.
I went to the Auckland War Memorial Museum and explored the natural history museum, tons of beautiful Māori art, and the World War I and II memorials. They'd set up an entire Mitsubishi Zero fighter plane, and it was incredible to see one up-front.
Vought F4U Corsair, aircraft carrier variant. The wings fold up for storage, as can be seen by the left wing's position. The last time I had gone there both wings were extended. Museu TAM da Aviação, São Carlos, SP. Galaxy Note II, in-phone HDR (a non-HDR pic was out of the question. My trusty G15 got really hammered by the absurd dynamic range of this shot).
