The Buckeye was the primary jet trainer for the Navy for more than 30 years. The North American T-2 Buckeye was the United States Navy's intermediate training aircraft, intended to introduce Student Naval Aviators to jets. It entered initial service in 1959, and was replaced by the T-45 Goshawk in 2008.

I wonder if this graphic was a dieting aid. "If you go for a midnight snack, the Stukas will get you!"

This pass, the last of four, was right over our house near Metrotown in Burnaby, probably for the closing ceremonies of the World Police and Fire Games (or the Burnaby Blues and Roots Festival -- both events are nearby).

 

You can almost read the markings on the planes, despite the fading light (it was around 8 p.m.) and the blur from speed. I enhanced this image a bit to bring out the colour of the planes: they were pretty close to silhouettes in reality.

There is a very small airport near my home...every once in awhile these old planes fly over, I heard this one and grabbed my camera. I was afraid that I had missed it but was able to get this photo from the shot.
