PYRO is a 1982 International Transtar 4300 powered by a Westinghouse J34-WE-48 Turbojet engine with afterburner from a T-2 Buckeye. The engine has a single spool, 11 stage axial flow compressor and a 2 stage axial flow turbine. The J34 produces 10,000 HP with 6,000 lbs of thrust. PYRO is capable of reaching speeds of over 250 mph, and burns 40 gallons of fuel per run! PYRO proves that the lack of aerodynamics can be offset with intense thrust.
If PYRO’s flaming afterburner isn’t enough, it has been equipped with flame throwing exhaust stacks. These stacks operate both on propane and nitrogen propelled diesel. This high octane combination allows PYRO to boast one of the most impressive fire displays in the world.

Val-Halla, a restored P51 Mustang, flying at the 2025 Abbotsford International Airshow. It was supposed to be taking part in the USAF Heritage Flyover alongside the F35 Lightning II but the F35 hand to land due to technical problems so Val-Halla flew on it's own while the RCAF Snowbirds prepared for their performance. Val-Halla was named for both it's pilots Bill Anders wife Valerie and for the Black Knights P51 squadron that was stationed at Keflavik, Iceland during the Cold War.

TRIVIA: Royal Saudi Air Force F-15C pilots shot down two F-4E Phantom IIs flown by the Iranian Air Force in a skirmish in June 1984, and shot down two Iraqi Mirage F1s during the Gulf War
A tornado had to make an emergency landing in Gibraltar Airport (LXGB). This Tornado was part of a group of four which had flown from their base in Lossiemouth, North of Scotland.

"This single seat pursuit-fighter aircraft is from the Robert J. Pond collection. It was a combat veteran during WWII with the 414 Squadron, 2nd Tactical AF and shot down a V1 Buzz bomb heading for England. Post war, in 1950, the aircraft went to Belgium as a trainer and target tug and was retired in 1957"
"Detroit Miss", flown by First Lieutenant Urban L. Drew, in which he scored six aerial victories and one strafing kill in a single tour of duty. On October 7, 1944, Lieutenant Drew became the first Allied pilot to shoot down two Messerschmitt Me 262 Schwalbe aircraft. This feat earned him a much belated Air Force Cross, awarded on May 12, 1983. He is one of only two men to receive the Air Force Cross for actions performed during World War II.
Outside on top of the canopy is to see the periscope for watching what is happening behind the fighter.

A restored USAF P38 Lightning from WWII flying during the Warbirds demo at the 2025 Abbotsford International Airshow. It flew alongside an F4U Corsair and a P51 Mustang.
The Supermarine Spitfire, bred from the Schneider Trophy winning seaplane racers of the 30s, an incredibly elegant, agile and fast fighter, triumph of design and engineering. But oh so much more than that in the collective psyche of these islands, the Spit is forever associated with that moment when the history of the free world balanced on a knife edge, the Battle of Britain, and remains for many of us a supreme symbol of defiance against the odds in the face of overwhelming evil which had swallowed so much else but found the RAF more than they could chew...
This Spit was constructed late in the war, 1944, so long after that watershed air battle, although in the 1960s she would be taking to the air for part of the movie Battle of Britain. She's been the 'gate guard' at various RAF bases, including Leuchars, over the years and was eventually donated to the city of Glasgow (she had once been part of the City of Glasgow auxiliary RAF squadron in her history), refurbished at the National Museum of Flight at East Fortune and when the magnificent Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum re-opened after a huge redevelopment she was on display, hanging there amid the early 1900s architecture, rather delightfully right over the head of a stuffed giraffe on display with other animals below! There's something quite magical about turning into a wing of this huge, historic edifice and coming face to face with a real Spitfire just hanging there, the lines so elegant and aerodynamic she still looks fast even when hanging still...
