Photo from Cpl. Raymond Pullen [28thPRS] collection. If photographed East Field Saipan as many of Cpl. Pullen's images, this would be a 19th Fighter Squadron P-47D as only the 19th had numerals at the lower point of the front cowling during the Marianas campaign.
If anyone has more info or correction on this P-47D, post a comment.

In February 1965, the squadron began a transition from the F 84F to the F 4C Phantom II. Transfer of the Thunderstreaks began in February 1965, with the first 389 TFS F 4C arriving in April 1965. Operations at Holloman initially centered on training to qualify flyers in the new F 4C, then settled down into routine activities such as exercise participation, and continuation training to sustain combat readiness.
After a Sept-Dec 1965 deployment to Alaska, the 389th learned that it and the rest of the 366 TFW would soon depart Holloman for a new assignment in Southeast Asia. The movement to Phan Rang Air Base, South Vietnam, took place in mid March 1966. Deployment began on 11 March, with the first of the squadron's aircraft reaching Vietnam on the 15th.

️ The Lancaster Bomber was a critical asset for the Royal Air Force during World War II. With a capacity to carry 14,000 pounds of bombs, it became the backbone of the RAF’s bombing campaigns. Its heavy payload and formidable presence made it a feared adversary in the skies.

It's Carnaval! We all dress up and go out (and get wasted). Because everyone does it, it's a big and colorful party in the city! You get complete superheroteams, animals, clowns, furniture (yes, it can be done!), ninjas, you can't imagine it, but people dress like it! It's great! This year I was a "Goddamn American Fighter Pilot Fuckers!" (it has to be said in a redneck like accent).
