Marked as Thunderbirds #2, this aircraft did indeed fly with the display team during their time operating the Phantom. After that she served in a testing role at Edwards AFB, hence the N-prefix.

A Boeing F-15E Strike Eagle belonging to the 333d Fighter Squadron prepares to depart on a training sortie. As part of the pre-flight check the pilot has deployed the airplane's dorsal mounted air brake, jokingly called the barn door. This air brake allows the airplane to slow down rapidly after landing and replaced braking parachutes that were used on earlier generations of fighter jets. The 333d "LANCERS" Fighter Squadron is part of the 4th Fighter Wing at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina. It operates F-15E Strike Eagle aircraft and conducts advanced fighter training.
