Ditch in Odijk, also known as a watercourse (Dutch: Watergang) for draining the water from the Utrecht ridge to the Kromme Rijn river.

For good water management, it is important that all ditches and canals (also known as waterways) are properly maintained. They are used for the drainage of water (in periods with a lot of rain) and for its supply (in dry times).

The corn mill Geertruida Cornelia (formerly Eesterhoek) in the village of Gorssel, Gelderland, is a round stone ground sailor built in 1893. The mill was in operation until 1935.

In the year 2000, a major renovation was completed and the mill was again regularly in operation as a flour mill, at least every Saturday.

This photo was taken in Playa del Duque, Tenerife with a view of the monument to Javier Perez Ramos. He gave his life on March 31, 1998 to save another person. After the rescue, a treacherous wave struck him and dragged him into the sea. The 31-year-old was found dead in the sea only days later.

Remembrance of the Dead (Dutch: Dodenherdenking) is held annually on May 4 in the Netherlands. It commemorates all civilians and members of the armed forces of the Kingdom of the Netherlands who have died in wars or peacekeeping missions since the beginning of the Second World War.

Traditionally, the main ceremonies are observed in Amsterdam at the National Monument on Dam Square. This ceremony is usually attended by members of the cabinet and the royal family, military leaders, representatives of the resistance movement and other social groups. At 20:00 two minutes of silence is observed throughout the Netherlands. Public transport is stopped as well as all other traffic. Radio and TV only broadcast the ceremonies from 19:00 until 20:30. Since 4 May 1994 flags, having hung at half-mast from 18:00, are then hoisted to the music of the Wilhelmus, the Dutch national anthem. Since 2001 the new protocol says it is allowed to let the flag hang at half-mast.

The next day, on May 5, people celebrate the liberation of the nation from the German occupation of 1940 to 1945.

The Netherlands is not for nothing known as a cycling country. Safe, comfortable bike paths, nice and flat so you cycle from one landscape to another. Finding a scenic bicycle trail is very simple.

There is more than 35,000 km of signposted cycle routes plotted.

On the whole cycle route is the concept envisaged a marked either written or otherwise facilitated route, which one cycle as a recreational / tourism activity.

But all the other routes for cyclists (eg commuting connections that cycling infrastructure is built) are actually cycling routes.

This beautiful lizard posed for me in Burgers Bush.

The Carolina anole (Anolis carolinensis) is an arboreal lizard found primarily in the southeastern United States and some Caribbean islands. Other common names include the green anole, American anole and red-throated anole. It is also sometimes referred to as the American chameleon due to its ability to change color from several brown hues to bright green and its somewhat similar appearance (though it is not a true chameleon).
