Over time, I've been collecting images in a temporary folder.
Not quite photographs, not quite intentions.
More like sketches, drafts, ideas - starting points.
Files meant to disappear, to die.
And yet...
This temporary album has eventually become the largest of all my projects.
Little by little, over the past ten years, it has traced a continuous line - one that, while not really leading anywhere, takes paths worth lingering on.
I found it meaningful to offer these stolen moments - once destined for the trash - a proper setting.
To build a true photographic object, something a little luxurious, maybe even deliberately too beautiful...
During the next weeks, i will publish all 4 volumes of these temporary files.
The Pileated Finch (Coryphospingus pileatus), captured at Finca Ecoturística San Javier in Chucuní, Tolima, Colombia, is a striking example of avian beauty. This photograph showcases the finch's vibrant red crest and contrasting black and gray plumage. Perched elegantly on a rock, the bird's intricate feather details are highlighted by the soft, natural light filtering through the foliage. The lush green background provides a perfect contrast, making the finch the focal point of the image. The Pileated Finch, found primarily in South America, is known for its distinctive appearance and melodious song, making it a favorite among birdwatchers and photographers alike.
From a photography perspective, capturing this moment required careful planning and patience. The finch is very active and was moving quickly, making it challenging to photograph in low light conditions. Using a shutter speed of 1/90 was necessary to balance the natural light and highlight the bird's vibrant colors, despite the low light conditions. This slower shutter speed required steady hands and precise timing to capture the finch's intricate details without motion blur. The composition draws the viewer’s eye directly to the finch, framed by the organic lines of the surrounding environment. This image is a testament to the beauty of wildlife photography and the importance of showcasing nature's intricate details. Each photograph I take aims to capture the essence of wildlife and inspire others to appreciate and protect our natural world.

I aimed to create an image which demonstrated a start point and an endpoint. During a lunch break I sketched out an elemental composition that utilised the rule of thirds (where the pencils intersected).
Originally the photo was going to be a 4x3 portrait, but this changed to a square ratio in post as it looked more balanced. I’ve kept the scene stark as I wanted the image to have a plain minimal look.
To keep the two pencils upright and level I used Litebee flexible helping hands. This tool proved invaluable during this setup.

Volume II of my temporary files opens on a difficult period of my life, during my rehabilitation at the Saint-Yves clinic following a fairly serious health accident (see my series « Heart Passages » published last year)
It ends at work, and in the immediate vicinity of my company’s offices.
(Because yes, I also photograph at work :-) )
I use blank of a book as memo. Same four icon methodology is applied. Circle for Records, Electric Bulb for Discovery (my own opinion), Square for ToDo (e.g. buy a reference book of the book), Hat for Citation.
The bookshelf filled by such books become "external data storage" in the PoIC system. The number of Cite Cards in the dock is reduced naturally.
As for the Fieldnote, I use a mechanical pencil as a bookmark.
Just a parenthesis between two volumes of my temporary files.
In fact, closing the parenthesis with this last picture.
Finally, this little tangy candy, guilty pleasure that I do not refuse myself.
