Sat at my desk in the dark with a fibre optic brush and a macro lens is surprisingly addictive. Only small movements of the lens reveal different compositions. This one reminded me of a forest in fog viewed from overhead except there is no trees only fibres.

No Photoshop, no AI, all shot in camera.

Happy Macro Mondays and Merry Christmas!

"Red Powderpuff Flower" by Patti Deters. This is a close-up macro photograph of the interesting and unique red flower known as the Red Powderpuff (Calliandra emarginata) which describes it perfectly as the fluffy bloom is soft to the touch. These plants are tropical evergreen shrubs and each blossom is actually many little flowers with almost non-existent petals that form a round globe, or sphere. The pollen tipped stamens shine like a fiber optic when the sun hits it just right - added to the bright and vivid red color, this is a very cool botanical! If you like this flora square cropped image, I invite you to please share or see my main image gallery (floral, plants, and more) at patti-deters.pixels.com. This particular artwork is for sale on a variety of products at patti-deters.pixels.com/featured/red-powderpuff-flower-pa... (printed and shipped WITHOUT watermark) through Fine Art America (FAA) which offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

A couple of fiberoptic brushes, yellow and blue filters by LPB. Stencil moved, got hit with light twice giving it a look of motion. Happy Accident!

Some fiber optic fun!

More light painting camera rotation -- all one exposure, with minor cleanup in LR

Sometimes you make a shot... and drop the light.

I set up this little scene and was going to play around with it for the rest of the evening, playing with colors, maybe rearrange the scene.... but the fifth shot produced this one and I simply knew this is it! There is not going to be any better shot from this scene...

ODC: Spooky...light painting the crystal ball. Happy Halloween!

Day 2 of 365 : January 2, 2011

Revisited last nights idea with more of a plan and proper set up. Back to crazy work schedule the rest of the month little time for fun now :(

Ian and I took over a small hallway off the lobby of a hotel taking bokeh shots of this art type display on the wall. I kept expecting an employee to come over and say ok enough is enough but they let us be.
