Fez is a city in northeastern Morocco, often called the cultural capital of the country. It is best known for its walled Fes El Bali medina, with medieval maritime architecture, lively souks and an ancient world atmosphere. In the medina there are religious schools, such as Bou Inania and Al Attarine, both from the 14th century and decorated with elaborate cedar carvings and tile ornaments.
Fez Tannery is one of the most visited sights in Fez Medina. These are the oldest tanneries in the world, operating closely unchanged since the founding of Fez nearly 1000 years ago.
The Leather Tanneries of Fez dates back at least 9 centuries. Besides, the Leather Souq (Market) is one of the interesting places in Fez and the oldest leather tannery in the world. When approaching the tannery the smell gives you the impression that something different is about to appear. The smell sticking to the terrace from where all the activities can be viewed for all the visitors.

Fèz is a city in northeastern Morocco that is known as the country's cultural capital. It is most famous for its Fèz El Bali walled medina (world's largest), which features medieval Marinid architecture, vibrant souks (Arab marketplaces), and an old-world atmosphere. Would have been nice if I had a tripod with me...
Really wanted to capture some continuous light trails, so I pushed the shutter speed out to 1.3 sec (I knew it's not long enough), rested the camera on the railing with my hands pushing it down hoping for some stabilization. Since the railing was round and slippery, I wouldn't even dare to use a 2 sec timer, for my hands would be bound to move the camera and mess up the composition during the 2 sec wait.
Thank you for having a look, wishing you a very happy Friday!
O Paulo (um excelente fotógrafo, confirmem... The_Bat), colocou-me um desafio... "e que tal ilustrar a Fez - Being Born"!

Six o'clock
On the auto route
Burning rubber, burning chrome
Bay of Cadiz and ferry home
Atlantic sea cut glass
African sun at last
Lights.. flash past
Like memories
A speeding head, a speeding heart
I'm being born, a bleeding start
The engines roar, blood curling wail
Head first then foot
The heart sets sail

A major industry in the Moroccan city of Fez is the production of quality leather goods from hides. The first step in the process is to tan the animal hides and then dye them. These processes are carried out in vats located on the roofs of buildings. This work is carried out largely by manual labour.
