This Great Blue Heron snagged a large carp and decided to bring it up to the little island where he could dispatch it without fear of it escaping. He dropped and speared the fish a few times to disable it. At one point, the fish bounded off through the grass headed back towards the water, but the Heron was quick and fetched him back. He manoeuvred the fish so it was head first into his mouth and gulped it down, ending up with a lump in his throat.
Ran into a dog and his owner while wandering Patapsco State Park yesterday. It was fun to watch them in a game of fetch, the pup more than happy to splash about trying to find the one stick amid the many.

Somewhere in Knutsford, Cheshire, UK in August 2025. Taken on a Nikon FE2 50mm f/1.4 AIS with Kodak Gold.
This is from the first colour roll of film I've ever taken as an adult. Scanned on a Nikon Z7ii using a valoi easy35. Converted using negative lab pro.
I am not so much online at the moment, the weather is gorgeous and I chop wood and fetch water, wishing you all a great time :)

Was fun to watch the pup splashing in the shallows, ready for the next throw of the stick (because the poor thing couldn't find the one originally thrown... good thing his owner had plenty handy).
Our yard is small, but the alley between us & our neighbour is quite long. It's a good run to use for a game of fetch.
A photographic capture of the rare and elusive Pointing Squirrel, thought to be the result of an indiscretion between an ambitious gray squirrel and an English pointer.
It spends a lot of time frozen in confusion because it doesn't know whether it's supposed to point to nuts or bury ducks.
