The attraction was built in the park "Fairy Tale" in Moscow.
This is a modern Ferris wheel, 35 meters high with enclosed cabins. No one is in the cabins, because the photo was taken before the closure of the park.
At the moment, ferris wheels are operating in the city in the Sokolniki and Izmailovo parks. The 50-meter wheel of Izmailovsky Park is the highest in Moscow and one of the oldest in the city. Prior to dismantling in 2016, the highest ferris wheel in the capital was installed at VDNH. In 2018, VDNH Park will receive a new attraction - a 140-meter wheel, which will become the highest in Europe,

A Ferris wheel is an amusement ride consisting of a rotating upright wheel with multiple passenger-carrying components attached to the rim in such a way that as the wheel turns, they are kept upright, usually by gravity.

Dared again to take night photos without a tripod. Didn't want to spend the whole day carrying it around the city (my cell phone actually counted 20 km that day...). Riding the Ferris wheel was a great pleasure, even if it turned quite slowly, for the thrill I would have liked perhaps a little more speed. But it was an unforgettable experience.
Constructed in 1897. According to Wikipedia, its purpose was to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Emperor Franz Josef I, and it was one of the earliest Ferris wheels ever built. It was built with 30 gondolas, but was severely damaged in World War II and when it was rebuilt, 15 gondolas were replaced.
The wheel appeared in many movies, e.g. in the 1987 James Bond film, The Living Daylights.
Libori is a festival in Paderborn, Germany, in honour of Saint Liborius, which takes place annually in the last week of July.

Quiet night in the Old Town of Gdansk. The Ferris wheel installed near the Motlawa canal on the Isle of Granary provides a local attraction until reconstruction.

We spent most of our Sunday afternoon at the local fair (elephant ears and all) and stayed until dark (intended).
I was hoping to capture the wheel in motion at night and with two tired kids in tow it was impossible. So that is as good as it gets with the ferris wheel for me.
