The dead brown foliage in the background is the result of the recent heat-wave.
I spent 1 week in Hong Kong in February 2012. Every thing in Hong Kong is so interesting!! Most of my family is there, but after spending so much of my life in Canada, i dont think i can ever live in Hong Kong.
Ferns and related plants are found all over the world, from sea-level to high mountains. They are descended from some of the oldest plants of the earth's history, being found as fossils dating back nearly 400 million years. Although most are found in the rain forests, both tropical and temperate, their habitats range from sea-sprayed cliffs through freshwater rivers and lakes to the semi-deserts of arid climates. There are over 12000 different species.

Not food, but near the raised beds and the coil hose. These are rescued ferns that I brought home a long while ago and just stuck any which way into the dirt.
They actually took and are thriving on neglect and no attention.
That's my kind of plant! Growing up my dad put these in front of my bedroom window so I have a fondess for this particular kind of fern even though they tend to take over everything..
